... how could you not like Forbidden Kingdom?

Sometimes I look into your eyes while you're reviewing movies, and it's like I don't even know you anymore.

I get what you're saying about the choreography being very un-Jackie, and his character lacking the "fish out of water" charm of his usual roles, but that's actually what I liked about the movie. I don't think you can make a movie where Jackie does what he does and Jet Li does what he does. So the producers had the choice of putting Jet Li in a Jackie Chan movie, putting Jackie Chan in a Jet Li movie, or putting both of them in something completely different. I think they made the right choice. Besides, I think Jackie is just too old now to be playing the bumbling, Buster Keaton, stumbled into trouble, in-over-his-head-guy. Like Jeff said, the guy's in his 50's. I think he's earned the right to be a little sagacious in a movie, as Jet Li's earned the right to pee on people. That's why he got in the game, baby! He's got dreams too! (Chapelle Show joke...)

Anyway, sorry to bring this back up but I'm always 2 or 3 weeks behind you guys, since I don't want to see your reviews until I've seen the movies. Out of curiosity, have you seen The Restless yet, and do you plan on seeing Chocolate, the new Thai movie with the "female Tony Jaa"?

"Hey man, what-it-look-like?"

I don't remember saying anything about a lack of "fish out of water" ness-- I think thats a quality only present in his american movies, which I like the least of all his flicks.

I didn't like the movie cause I didn't enjoy any of the action scenes and take the action away and I didn't enjoy any of the story. And I DO think you could have made a jackie chan/ jet li movie (though perhaps it would have had to of been made 10 years ago).

What I REALLY want is for jackie to just be in a straight up comedy-- I want him to be travolta'd, in fact, quentin tarantino, I think, could use him wisely. OR better yet-- Sofia Coppola...(can't you see him in a reverse Lost in Translation?). The Jackie I saw in Forbidden Kingdom was like Fat Elvis...

We certainly DO plan on seeing Chocolate (we reviewed the trailer back in the day)!! I can't wait!!

I used to think all that fat Elvis stuff was bullshit. Then I turned on the TV one day.... and there's fat Elvis. He was sitting on a stool and sweating and stuff.... urgghh... and he couldn't remember the words and he's mumbling and shit...... WTF happened to you, man? You used to be beautiful! (one for my Ordell Robbie lovin' peeps)

JC in a QT movie?.... gold.
On a side note... I'm like already pumped for the Wachowski's next flick "Ninja Assasin". The name alone has me pumped. Joel Silver (who would never overhype anything ;) ) says it's gonna be a full on Kung Fu / Ninja flick.

Fair enough. I agree there wasn't much to it other than the action scenes, but I thought the actions scenes were just awesome, particularly the fight between Jackie and Jet.

So, will you be reviewing Chocolate (and The Restless ;)) on the show?
