What do you think is the most under-rated movie?

One of mine most under-rated favourites is THE CRAFT.

It pre-dated the late 90's horror explosion supposedly started by SCREAM and remains one of the most watchable teen horror movies ever made. Also Fairuza Balk is the definitive creepy goth chick for all time in this movie.

Great cast, smart script and a killer soundtrack. THE CRAFT is a classic of its kind.

Wait? Did you say OVERrated?

Definitely one of my favorites. Thanks for posting that Masher. Have you ever seen it? Hmmmm, I feel like I should watch it again just to get my head in the right place. I wouldn't call it overrated because it really is a great movie. It's not one of those corny low-budget Christian films, it's actually REALLY good.

Did you ever see The Judas Project?

Nah.

In terms of Christian movies I've seen:

-Left Behind
-Left Behind 2
-The Ride (SUCH a heart warming movie)
-The Number Six

There's probably a few I'm forgetting but those are the main one's that I've watched.

Dude, I recommend The Judas Project. :) It's highly underrated. Mostly because non-Christians hate Christian things for some reason. Check it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107284/

Wow, after watching the entire trailer for Left Behind I feel like watching the movie again. It's SUCH an emotional ride and, in my opinion, very well made for a Christian movie. Like I said, it's not one of those corny cheaply made movies, this one really does get you thinking and the characters are soooo compelling.

Millennium,
Boy and His Dog,
Equilibrium,
Gattaca,
The Shadow,
The Phantom,

Depends on what you mean by "under-rated" and by whom is it being "rated". Rated as "Art" or entertainment.

The more movies you see the more you'll see under-rated and over-rated ones. Just look at the divide over Speed Racer. Jeff and Dan liked it a lot Alex almost hated it. Commercial reviewers almost universally panned it.

I liked it a lot.
Go figure.

I enjoyed Left Behind but I don't think it was "under-rated".

It kinda slid in the darkness, becuase it wasn't the matrix. However, I thought the movie owned. Christian Bale doing Gun-Kata? kthx.

I don't know, that movie was billed as a "dark" comedy, but it was still too hollywood to be dark enough. Hollywood castrated the dark movie, Brazil, and wasn't till the dirctors cut that things were put right. Both movies had their good points, though.

dark comedy for me is "the cook, the thief, his wife, and her lover"

the only honest "dark" comedies from hollywood were, "donnie darko" and "heathers", maybe "the war of the roses" but would have to see it again.

I think EVOLUTION is one of the worst movies of all time. I actually won that DVD in a competition. Watched it once in utter disgust then gave it to a friend, trying to forget I'd ever seen it.

Ivan Reitman took what was originally a quite dark script and decided "I want to make MEN IN BLACK." And as you can see he failed completely.

As with Kasdan's jaw-droppingly awful DREAMCATCHER this is a travesty of modern cinema that has miraculously managed to avoid most people's 'Worst Movies Ever' lists. Although it's easily on mine.

But if you like it, then more power to ya'...

It's interesting, just about everyone I've talked to who has seen Evolution (which admittedly isn't many) has almost as strong an opinion about the movie as most people do about the theory itself. They either love it or despise it, which to me is the mark of a real cult classic.:D

Well, time always tells on that score.

But for me EVOLUTION is utter crap that everyone involved would do well to pretend they never had anything to do with it.

If you ask the average person, most have never heard of it. It did not get a widespread release. I had to go to a local "art house" to see it when it came out. I guess it depends on your definition of under-rated.

I always get Meet Joe Black confused with Mighty Joe Young because they were both released around the same time, and have "Joe" in the title. This is also the reason I have never seen Meet Joe Black.
