Dylan Jobe, a developer for Warhawk, has recently made a post on the Official PlayStation Forums regarding an update coming to Warhawk today. The update can be expected any time from 10 AM PST to 12 PM PST. Jobe states that the Warhawk team has been listening to the feedback of its users and has decided to implement an update taking care of a lot of the overwhelming requests for the game. We've included a list below of everything you can expect to be changed.

*

- By popular demand, playlists which include the largest layouts now include only the largest layouts. They will no longer occasionally rotate into medium layouts.
*

- By popular demand, respawn times have been set to 3 seconds.
*

- By popular demand, Broken Mirror servers now offer dedicated CTF and ZNS games in place of the mixed playlists.Dogfight servers were added back to the list. They were inadvertently omitted before.
*

- All games’ time limits were reduced to 15 minutes, and ZNS score limit was reduced to 5000, to combat complaints of prolonged base camping.
*

- “NEWBIE” servers were changed to “Rookie” to bring the nomenclature in line with upcoming changes in v1.4.
*

- “Pro” servers were changed to “Expert” to more obviously indicate a skill level rather than a player type. Some players incorrectly identified “Pro” servers as tournament games, a la MLG or GGL.
*

- “Casual” servers are essentially the same as before, but the “Casual” designator has been dropped. We now refer to these internally as just “standard” servers, and they are listed without any special identifier.
*

- The rank cap on Rookie servers was increased to Wingman, since players were getting kicked out of these servers too quickly and finding themselves unprepared to play on standard servers.
*

- A rank cap was imposed on standard servers at Command Marshall. This is rank 15/19 so it should not affect a lot of players. The intention is to pull some of the most elite players out into their own category, somewhat narrowing the rank gap on these servers.
*

- Many Omega Dawn exclusive servers were removed due to lack of use.

While most developers ship a product with no updates planned in the future, the guys over at Incognito Entertainment continually feel the need to expand and enhance the online experience for their users. It's a refreshing feel to have the developers care that much about their title.

Excellent, sir. Thanks for the info (as always). Though, I'm no Warhawk maniac....yet. ;)

I do believe that I'll go fire up Warhawk right now (and work on being maniacal)!

Man... I'm gonna look around for this in used bins... I don't really wanna spend $40+ on a multiplayer-only game, especially one that I haven't tried. No refunds on the PSN, either.

You know, some of us ought to answer questions you may have about it. I feel like I could give a balanced evaluation of the game.

A couple thoughts: true, it doesn't have a single-player campaign, so no story. And, while the ranking (and subsequently unlocked customization options for your character and Warhawk design) isn't a HUGE deal, certainly not as awesome as those elements in COD4, I still find myself psyched about gaining awards.

The design style is slightly cartoonish, but no more so than GTA. You know, the way the characters are a bit exaggerated, a bit more rounded off in the features, etc.

One definite quality I enjoy is the way you have so many balancing options, to answer the situation. It's like Rock, Paper, Scissors X 9 (in regards to options, but skill still decides). I have a feeling that others may know enough to compare it to other battlefield games, where I can't.

In the end, I would say it would be awesome to have you in the RAD clan!

Well the cheapest I saw Warhawk was still $40 at WalMart.. EB didn't have it at all. Still too much I think.. I just. I don't know man. I'm so conflicted with games. Like, for example, I just re-got GTAIV.. But I didn't open it yet cuz I don't know if I wanna keep it. I hear nobody plays it online anymore.. So yeah. I don't know. I wish it was November now and so I could just buy the games I really wanted and have no money left and then it'd be all settled. I have this problem with buying games.. It's my only real hobby, gaming, and so, I buy crap and never play it. Blah. I mean, look at the games I have left to finish before September/October!

Dark Kingdom, The Darkness, Folklore, GRAW2, GTAIV, Lair, LEGO Star Wars, Oblivion, Portal (trying to make it last!), Ratchet & Clank Future (1/2 thru right now), Viking: Battle for Asgard, plus my unfinished PSP games: God of War, Crisis Core, MOH: Heroes, Puzzle Quest, Monster Hunter Freedom 2, Silent Hill 0rigins, Ys: Ark of Napishtim, Castlevania. No time for Whwk

That, my friend, is a hardcore gamer's list (as is the list I saw earlier of the games you're keeping your eye on)!

I understand, I do. Especially considering the conflict you're having over Haze. As for GTA, I can't imagine why people wouldn't be playing it online anymore. That's just stupid. I am taking a break from it, but it's because: (1)I have had Warhawk for a while, and haven't really gotten a chance to dig into it, and (2) I don't want to get tired of it. Plus, getting in on all the MP has kept me from the SP side of a couple games.

I have a real problem with that common gamer's mentality of keeping up with this break-neck-speed trend garbage of playing the newest, hottest thing for 5 minutes, and then dumping it. It's like a kid getting a new toy, playing with IT for 5 minutes, dropping it, walking away, and saying "I want that toy." If a game's a good game, and you're gonna pay $60, WHY THE HELL would you only play it for 2 weeks?! I don't know, I kind of reject trends by nature, so I'm sure I'm biased.

I think that, if a game is a good game, you should be able to rely on at least a core group of friends who are always up for playing it, even if people need to take a break (and maybe switch it up) now and again. I'll say this, if you decide to keep GTA, I'll play whenever. I think that the only reason we're having any success with getting RAD clan matches of Warhawk together is because some of us are taking on the task of bringing in people that are new to the game, but also working hard to remind people how fun the game really is. I think the same should be possible for ANY game with a great MP experience. We just have to rally the troops!

And that's my rant for the day. ;)

I hear nobody plays it online anymore..

No kidding...after I finally finished the single player stuff from GTA IV, no one was playing multiplayer anymore. (I have no desire to play with complete strangers.) So I stopped and decided to work on catching up with TV and spring cleaning.

I still want to get into the Rad warhawk games, just a matter of when I have the time for it, etc.
