I have a black-on-black loaded BMW 5-series with a radio that's being a pain. Really, nothing special for the area, but at least I don't have payments. The license plate is AUCBOND, the Wyland whale-tale (customized custom plates - it makes sense to Californians), which was for the last company I co-founded, but let my ex have when we broke up.

My mom has the best random plates in the world. 4GOV666 I want those plates.

You're going to put a Turbo on a Sentra? Why?
Sentra's are not sports cars
It has a 4-cylinder engine

The one I have is just a standard. There is only one S in our fleet, which does have to John Cooper Works package. My MINI has tiptronic shifting, iPod integration (standard for newer BMWs), etc. Really, it's just a standard MINI but fun as hell nonetheless.

i will never understand why people waste thousands of dollars trying to make their crappy hondas, and other import cars 'fast'.. you cannot make a honda as fast or as quick as a real sportscar no matter how hard you try..
save your damn money and buy a real sportscar to make your friends drool over..
do not buy a honda, toyota, ford, chevrolet, or nissan 4 CYLINDER and spend $5,0000 trying to make it a sportscar.. thats so ****ing stupid

save your money and buy a sportscar, and then spend $5,000 making it better.. if it needs it - which I doubt it will

you guys can do whatever the hell you want to your 4 cylinder Momma cars... but you are wasting your time and your money

because my 300ZX will still tear you up

Im sorry dude but you have no idea what your talking about. I know someone that has a 13 second civic. You can make a 4 cylinder fast. In fact I know quite a few 4 cylinders that could shit all over your 300zk. Don't under estimate a 4 cylinder, there is alot of stuff you can do to make it fast as shit.

At the dragstrip (quarter mile) it takes 13 seconds. I go to the dragstrip all the time.

Ps. I also know somebody with a Supra. Don't get me wrong, Im not saying that 4 cylinders are the fastests cars ever and can beat anything...not even by a long shot. Im just saying that you can make them into little rockets.

phatlip12
10-04-2006, 03:51 AM
One more thing...

That article you posted is talking about visual things done to cars. Im talking about engine work. I agree, it is dumb when people do all visual work and no engine work and think its fast. These people are called "rice burners".

masherscf
10-04-2006, 11:37 AM
I hate to cast doubt on your statements Phatty. You know I think you have a great ride. However, there's more to a sportscar that just raw horse-power and time in the quarter mile. There's also a bit of speed design in the suspension and body that all the accessories in the world arn't going to match. These are things that allow a vehicle to use its power in practical situations and not flip-over or fly off the road.

However, the car maker calling the car a "sportscar" doesn't do the trick either. After driving both a Porche Carrarra and the Nissan 300ZX, I know which one I'd rather drive fast. I also know which one turns more heads.

phatlip12
10-04-2006, 04:49 PM
People that do stuff like this to their cars are hobbyist though. They have parts for almost anything, you can practically rebuild your whole car (that includes stuff like suspension too Masher). I have a friend that is really into this kind of stuff. Whenever he does something to his car he usually follows the pattern of: performance, visual, performance, visual. He is almost done all of his visual work (he just got a body kit, paint job and lamborghini dors). His next performance upgrade will be his biggest one yet as he is getting turbo and a performance computer system (the computer alone is going to give him 10 or 15 more horses).

I have no pics of my 2000 Honda Accord. It's not sexy, but it has leather and the V6 and runs like a champ.

I'm buying a new car this year and really want a 350Z, but my wife is hassling me about where the baby that we don't have will sit. Thus, I'll probably end up with an Infiniti G35x or possibly a BMW 328xi.

I've driven a supercharged Mini, though it didn't have that JCW upgrade package, and I have to tell you, that little bastard hauls balls. I highly recommend it.
