Hey Brewers,

The other day I was trapped on a bus for eight hours when I got a great idea for a mobile social network. I've gotten a lot done - code wise - in the past couple of days and am anxious to put this service together for the community. One problem, I need a name for the service. Obviously I can't go into much details - that would ruin the surprise - but I'm hoping someone here has a wider vocabulary than myself. Now, I really like names like SocialBrew, Twitter, SocialThing, etc. I'd rather avoid the trend of dropping a vowel from a name. Although, I'm down for any suggestions. The site is a place you can go to on your mobile phone to control certain aspects of your social life. I came here to ask for help because who's better to ask other than fellow social fanatics!

How about vagabond, or drifter?

Transience?

I'm trying to think of names that suggest mobility and travel.

Oh, I know: Matilda! (this one is pretty esoteric. One might need to be an Aussie to get it).

Also, I second the statement about being annoyed at the current state of Web 2.0 names. I say a hallmark of "Web 3.0" should be immaculate spelling. :)

I forgot to mention it should be as short as possible. I came up with a really good name but only .org is available.

Unless you are going to give details, coming up with a meaningful name is impossible.

Short? You are going to have a hard time finding anything short that is meaningful. You need to get creative.

Unfortunately for you, the guys over at hak.5 have registered a site called failbus.com

Unless you actually give us just an idea of what that site is going to be like - coming up with a name is kind of hard.

If it's going to be a humor or an entertainment site, go visist 4chan. You will get inspired. At a retarded level *cough*

Just use stumble upon and mix-n-match various website-names.

Well the site is not related to bussing or traveling in any sense. I actually found a site (ping.fm) extremely similar today when watching SocialBrew. I've gotten in contact with the guys to see if they possibly want to implement some of the mobile functions I had in mind. My idea is to allow users to control the social sites they are a part of via email, mms, sms, aim, msn, and etc. Today I thought of the word "cog" but have no clue how to make it unique to my service.
