God? Explain this concept.

Apparently a giant invisible man in hte sky created everything.

How?

Don't ask stupid questions, Just do what everyone else is doing...

Read the Bible. Start in the New Testament, once you get ahold of that, then you may move on to the Old Testament. If anyone is interested in a study method, I will give you one. You can learn all about this God in one handy place. :D

Maybe everything in the Universe was created by a cosmic bang, or else some cell somewhere just multiplied into all of our galaxies, all of our solar systems. Maybe the life as we know it on earth just began as a bit of slime in a mudpuddle and we morphed into an amazingly functional being. Along with all of the other myriad amazing things on earth, I don't really see any compelling evidence pointing to something non-supernatural.

But, what I do see, is over 3500 years worth of documentation pointing to the same thing: God, with more excavated evidence than you can shake a stick at.

(Here we go)

Sev, what do you make of the Councils of Nicaea?

Wow, seems like alot of study would have to go into that one. What I understand of it though is that they were attempting to settle some disputes about Christianity in its infancy. There were some questions reguarding the Trinity, and whether or not they were all one or three separate Entities.

I am sure that they accomplished alot of bad as well, but I have to say that history is full of people doing less than good, both in the name of Christ, and for other reasons.

Thanks for this though, just one more tidbit for me to study up on. ;)

Do some reading, and also read on the Roman Emperor Constantine. The one who called the first Council was Pagan. Let me know when you've done so and we may end up in an interesting chat.

It was a few hundred years. The part that always catches me is that, when it was finally written down, it was written in a language that did not even exist at the time. It's tough enough getting the literal translation of something from English to Japanese when you're sitting there with a book in English, so for stories to spread solely by word of mouth through different languages and then to be written down....

So few of is even remember exact conversations yesterday and, within a week, all but the general gist is usually gone.

A "game" like telephone caused me so much grief this year I was hospitalized from the stress. And that was a "game" with only a few people over a matter of days.

The bible is nothing more than a general guideline full of hypocrisy and is still being edited in recent years.

Start at the old testament, and then choose your ending ... Judaism (Torah), Islam (Koran), or Christianity (New Testament). If you want to get funky, even the alternate endings have different twists ...

Of course if you are into SciFi, then the Scientologists version is a hoot. Can't be bothered reading that one, I'll wait for the movie staring Cruise and Travolta.

Let's review a few of my favorite bible stories...

The Ten Commandements- Moses goesu p to a mountin...where nobody can see him...and god gives him the ten commandements.

The Fall Of Man- So how did people get to both the americas and europe if we all started from the same place?

The Ressurection- How do we know necrophiliacs didn't just grave-rob jesus's corpse?
