Interesting very interesting when is it due out in the US. MGS 4 will be the first new game I've bought for my PS3 since Uncharted.

Well, it went gold a while ago.. They had to, in order to get the shipments and bundles out there, otherwise it'd be last-minute rush jobs and probably not nearly enough stock.

They underestimated the PS3 MGS audience once before, and it put their beta signup site out of commission for like a week or something like that, and delayed the actual beta itself.. They likely don't want a retail analog of that situation to happen. :)

I think it's been ready for a while now, the June 12th release date was to commemorate the June 12th 1998 release of Metal Gear Solid on the PSX (in Japan at least), so I can imagine retailers would be getting their copies much earlier.

I'd file this under very possible. Damn, now I have to avoid the internet until I get my copy!

Nick, you're probably right about this specific picture - he's still standing in a store and everything - but there have been many games over the past year (Metroid Prime 3 comes to mind) that slip out early. Unfortunately, this never happens at my local retailers.

Funny - the ONE thing that EB Games is competent in is the one thing I wish they weren't...

Oh, well pfft, that explains it. What game was it that released earlier than the release date because they were allowed to? Ratchet and Clank right? Yeah, I think people should be more like those developers. When the game is ready and gold, just release it already. They don't mind delays, but releasing it early when it's ready is a no-no.

It's usually the retailers in a tizzy because of the early release. If everyone has their copies early its not a problem, but if Gamestop sells early but Best Buy doesn't have them in yet they get pissed.

I think they are shipping MGS4 to different regions but the copy seems to be a promo copy (with a coming soon label on it) that told people to pre-order.

In Hong Kong we got too many edition to choose from...
