He was just saying that to be polite, I remember him constantly saying how much he was not fond of them also...plus that bet he won over kevin and he LOOOOOOOOOVED destroying Kevins mac with a baseball bat.

Well... Alex did say that if Apple came out with something revolutionary for the Macs, like they did with the iPhone, he might buy one. There's still hope!

Hasn't Alex said that he uses or used a Mac to edit video? Doesn't he still own one? Not as a daily machine but I could swear that he has said he owned one.

He was giving his advice based on the callers needs.

I'm pretty sure his girl has one, and has said he'd consider switching if it was that much better. I do believe he's just.. addicted to his massive Falcon

The last few shows he has had his Dell with him.

It's simple. He's happy with Windows. If Apple adds something to OSX or perhaps OSXI then maybe he'll make the switch, maybe not. Depends on if it gives him the "Oh! I gotta have that!" feeling.
I totally am with him on that. OSX and Linux are great but there is nothing so great that it's pushing me to toss away all my Windows stuff, not yet anyway.

I did watch it all, after I came here to post the URL and time. And of course he was saying Macs are good for editing video because that's the general consensus. I personally dislike OS X because you can just do so much more in Windows, and I'm a cheap bastard so I can't afford the Apple hardware. Also not a fan of illegal activities such as running OS X on non-Apple hardware.
On a side note, someone should make a compilation of all of Alex's mac bashing on Diggnation/TSS.

The only app that I can think of is when you really need a MAC is for is Final Cut.
When Alex said go with a MAC in one way he was right. If you get a real job with photoshop at the office you will be working on a MAC. Hence you should know how to use a MAC.

Yea, I believe that's what he was getting at. Currently, they don't do anything that is soo much better than Windows (hell, most Mac users I know have Windows installed on their Macs with boot camp)

my macbook gives me both.. i use OS X with Office 2008 for Mac (we have an exchange server so it made me able to still boot to OS X), and then i have VMware fusion run either my XP or Vista (bootcamp) partitions. With the second monitor hooked up to my MBP i have XP fullscreened in the 2nd monitor so i can do any active directory stuff when i need to. Remote Desktop has also helped out a lot to let me run everything in OS X and then log into a server when needed
Hahaha, I just have to say that Doom 3 spoof was awesome.

Where's the it doesn't matter option?
A computer is a computer. An Apple computer IS just like any other computer out there at this point. What it's come down to now is personal preference. He said he's happy with his Dell so he should use the Dell.

Despite being a huge Mac fan, I'd rather he didn't. There'd be that chance that he'd actually grow to like it, and then we'd never have those epic debates about Mac vs Windows on Diggnation, or anyone to really keep Kevin in check.
I'd like him to see him use a Mac, but I'd hate to see it even more.

I don't care what he uses. He could go with a 180pg college ruled notebook and a #2 pencil as far as I care.

No.
He should use what he wants. Besides, it would look pretty lame if both of them were using a regular ole silver MBP.
DIVERSITY IS GUD.
I hope to god Alex doesn't move to the Mac. I personally don't care what your preference is but it is nice to have the 2 contrasting platforms on the show...it helps me relate to Alex a bit more when all my so-called 'artsy' friends are shoving their Mac books down my throat.

very annoying how lame people think if they save up and buy a mac or finance theirselves to hell and finally get one, that they are automatically cool.

Whatever works for him. One of Cody's co-workers razzed me for using a Dell, but Cody's and my take is that if a machine does what the user wants and needs it to do, who cares if it's a Mac or PC? For the most part they are the same. One person's personal preference doesn't hurt another. So he can use whatever he likes and I don't care.
Although the Mac vs. PC feel the show has is fun. :)

they can't both use macs, there needs to be the microsoft point of view and the apple point of view...but i voted for him to use what he wants

To reiterate what someone else said, though I voted for whatever he wants....that means he can use whatever he wants so long as they Kevin switches to a PC. I'm sorry, but we must maintain yin and yang. We can't have two yangs sitting on a couch. Thats just weird.

I agree, it's about the user not the OS or hardware. I have an HP Tx2000. I looked and tried out a bunch of laptops, but that was the only one that felt really good to me, along with the converting into a tablet.
I also agree with the Mac vs "PC" (really it's Windows, since OSX, Linux, Windows, etc. run on PC) It's great, because if some Apple story comes up and Kevin gets raving about how awesome it'll be, Alex is there to go "You know it sounds good, but not totally awesome, you are just being a fanboy" and the same with Alex. It's good for them to be able to call bullshit on the other and offer a different opinion... for example, Alex has said numerous times that the iPhone is a good phone, but he was very skeptical when it was announced and didn't think of it like the second coming of Christ, like many mac fanboys did.

Alex shouldn't go down to Kevins low standard of using a mac. Only panzy hippies use macs. I bet you the hippy uses a mac. Kevin grow some balls and get a pc.

Kevin is the poster fanboy...changes his opinion just because it's got the apple logo.

I don't think Alex needs to use a mac. If he's happy with the current machine he has, why would he want to go the other way around?
If one way or another he needs a new laptop, then i say try it out and see what he thinks.

Lets give Alex a Mac!!!!!!
I am a big APPLE fan boy, and i see Kevin always busting Alex balls about not using a Mac. Alex says if he was given one he would MAYBE use it. So lets DO IT!!!
1. Can we raise enough cash to purchase a Mac BookPro and give it to him?
2. Do you think he would really use it, at least on Diggnation?

Why would you care what kind of laptop Alex uses? Everybody has their own preferences. And his seem to be PC. Just giving him a machine won't make him any more or any less of a mac fan. Besides, I think I heard him say a few times that he actually does already own and use Apple machines.

I actually have the same XPS laptop he has just with a bigger screen. I tried a macbook for a few months and ended up selling it.
FYI, at the live NY show kevin said if alex agreed to use it on the show he could get him an air for free, so don't worry about the money side of it

FYI people... Alex mainly uses a MAC outside of the show. He just pretends to prefer the PC over MAC to give the show some "interesting discussion" when it comes to comparing the two.

Wow - the alex should use a Mac threads are almost as common as the "I want Kevin's shoes" threads.
I merged three of them together.
Do we really care what he uses? On the show its just a glorified teleprompter anyway. He could be using a spiral bound notepad and a crayon for all the difference it makes.
Away from the show we know he uses <dun dun duhhhhhhhhh> both.
Whatever he uses, it should have a Vote McCain sticker on it - just to be totally bipartisan.
