Hello, I am a magic novice but I wanted to get a few card and coin tricks down for friends and stuff. I have Brians books but I wanted something more focused on the cards/coins so I have more options with those props. Do any of you have recommendations on books, DVDs, or websites ?
Thanks in advance ! ;)

Try searching "Videos about magic/party Tricks on OneMunute" in iTunes. There's lots of card tricks there and some coin ones. The card tricks are a bit tough to get, I think I'm at the same level as you, but the coin ones are fun+easy.
Hope this helps!

I'll be honest: the book that taught me 90% of what I know with cards was written almost 100 years ago. "The Royal Road to Card Magic" by Hugard and Braue. It's awesome. Everything's laid out in lessons, where each lesson you learn a new sleight, and a trick to go with it.
I highly recommend it.

I never really got into coin/money magic but i would check out some of gregory wilson's stuff and y fav is one of Daniel Garcia's tricks..But im into highly visual close up tricks.
Edit: Also i had a hard time with books. i found that watching people perform taught me so much more, so i leaned more from dvds....

I would suggest this (http://www.amazon.com/Modern-Coin-Magic-J-Bobo/dp/0486242587) for Coin Magic

Hahaha, I was thinking of this book too, as I have it in my library (i.e. on my bookshelf). My biggest problem is I have big hands and no 1/2 dollar coins lying around.
But you reminded me about this one and I need to go to the bank and get some JFK $.50 pieces.

Just like Brian, my all time favorite is from long ago. You can get it cheap on Amazon.
Dunninger's Complete Encyclopedia of Magic is a must have for anyone interested in the art and craft that IS magic. This book covers magic in all it's forms from the early stage magic of vaudville days, simple techniques and tricks that can be made with ordinary household objects, to the best illusions of all time. Hundreds of tricks.

is it "Magician - R. Paul Wilson - Royal Road to Card Magic vol 1-5"?... a video series on BT
opps forgot... 2 of the "easy magic/bar tricks" sites I check out are either german or dutch... and many of their coin tricks take advantage of the fact that their coins have a hole in the center to hold a straw or a match etc...
I'm mostly interested in puzzles/tricks that use everyday objects.. a coin, a match.. and even cards.... things U can pull out of your pocket without much prior planning.

Wouldnt let me edit my above post again. The (BT) file I mentioned is of R. Paul Wilson doing video instructionals of whats covered in "The Royal Road to Card Magic".
He does say that the video should be watched along w/ having the book open and following... he says he covers MOST of the concepts/tricks in the book but ommitts afew.
Its over 8.5 hours of video w/ some PDFs added.
I'm liking it... 1st vid is very basic showing different shuffling and fanning techniques (for showmanship and distraction) and showing tricks that inccorporate the shuffling techniques,,, as well as informing of the terminology (like the "injog": offsetting a card in a shuffle to know a "break point").
Sounds like the book is very good... and I'm glad I found a video representation of the material... cause ... I guess I'm abit slow.. but alot of pencil drawn illustrations in books confuse me, as opposed to someone showing me in slow-mo video what they are doing
