I know that one other user is having this problem so i though i'd post it here. I can no longer post anything longer than 2-3 lines in messages at work. At home, i can't ost anything of significant length (6-7 lines), modify my signature, or reply/compose PMs. I've tried using both Firefox and Internet Explore and both have the same problem

I can't post anything long right now either. A fix, or at least a REPLY, would be helpful.

hmmmmm
i seem to not be having that problem.
using firefox 3 RC2 i don't know what to tell you guys it seems to be working for some people...........most people, i am using the quick reply message to do this. maybe it is just a canadian problem?

That seems unlikely, but possible. This is annoying. Even including a quote is too long.

Yeah. I thought I had tried that earlier, but it worked this time. Seems like you guys have some serious cookies troubles.

Its happening again, but now cookies wont help. Fluke last time, I guess. Its in IE, Firefox, and Flock so it isn't a browser thing. Everything seems to be loading slow as well, perhaps it has something to do with how busy the server is?

I don't know if it as at all relevant, but I just deleted all my cookies, saved passwords included, and didn't tell the forum to remember me when I logged back in. Now it is working.

you need to past along the fact that they need to post about it here. the more people this affects the more likley the problem is to get fixed.

Mikegraham6 did, he started this thread. it got a bit ignored. I don't know the extent of the problems the rest of them are having (Mikes sound worse than mine), Mike just mentioned he had heard they had these troubles.

I know, and I'm fine with that. I'm no web developer, but I thought it would be best if I kept them updated on how I manged to work around it/when the problem arises.

Nope, won't let me go much longer than that. Why does this only seem to happen (or I only notice) when I'm in the process of making a string of long posts. Frustrating.

No one ever contacted me about this and nothing was ever done about it.
Its quite frustrating.

We've been looking into it but, as you can see, it's quite the moving target that effects a limited number of users intermittently.

Does anybody have any other details aside from "it won't let me post" that might shed some light on the situation? Clearing your cookies is all well and good. However, I think it's just a coincidence that you're seeing improvements with/without clearing cookies, as it sounds like nobody has been able to prove any sort of a clear pattern as yet (on top of the fact that it's affecting random users to begin with).
If someone can post more details... say, with documented reproduction steps, complete error messages, screenshots of any "weirdness", etc. we'll see what we can do. As of right now, however the only conclusion, due to the random and rather limited number of folks this is affecting, would be user error (I'll appreciate if everyone would avoid taking that personal).
Also, on a personal note, I also blame Canada.

For me, Firefox 3 (OSX) won't allow me to post. When I click submit reply, all it does is just load (Transferring data from revision3.com) the whole time. I cleared cookies, cache, re-install FF, but still a no go
esophagus

Firefox 3, as Manhunt said, won't allow me to post at all. Transfering data, but never moves past that.
On IE I can post, but there seems to be a varying limit on the length. If a post is too long (the "too long" length seems to change) it gives me the unending "transfering data," but when I make the post shorter it will go through as normal.

I have Wireshark installed, but I'll admit to being fairly clueless. If you tell me what I should be looking for, I can try that.

well, before going through this, can you reliably reproduce the problem..? Otherwise it's likely a waste of time.

Okay, set up the scenario (have a post ready to be submitted to reproduce the bug, just don't hit post yet).
Fire up wireshark
click capture->interfaces
click "start" next to the appropriate interface (normally the one with the highest packet count)
click post in the browser, let the bug reproduce itself, sit there for a few seconds, etc
click Capture->Stop (or ctrl-e)
file->save and ship the file off to me in an email (support@revision3.com). Please, do make sure this is a sane sized file, 5MB or so max.
For your own privacy and full disclosure, this is a dump of traffic flowing through that interface. If you have sensitive information going over the wire at that moment, it will be included in that capture, so try and keep other apps closed at the time.

So do you have a firewall or router? You're not fragmenting when you need to.
A quick "fix" to test this would be connecting your cable/dsl modem directly to your computer and try to reproduce the problem.

Im having trouble posting as well. If I post on a new page (newreply.php) then it works 1 in 20, but if I use the quick-reply at the box then it works everytime.
I cant install that software because currently at work. Also im behind a proxy and using IE6 (shite - tell me about it).
Also changing my profile works but crashs the page.
Oh and I use plenty of other VB forums and have no issues.

It sounds like whatever problem you are having is not mine. On further inspection, I couldn't post lengthy posts in any VB forums.
Google Chrome seems to have solved my problems. Perhaps it will solve yours?
