So rev3 keeps logging me out automatically then won't let me log in unless I clear my cache which is annoying because then I have to re log in my other sites every time.

Yeah, it didn't log me out (might have, if I had been logged on) but it wouldn't let me log on. Not from the forums, or the mainpage.

sorry for the late response but we'll be pushing an update tomorrow morning to fix this. At that point cookies will be handled correctly and login probs should be a problem of the past. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I have the same problem every once in a while. It could be a problem with cookies.

Press Shift + Refresh button (at least in Firefox) after logging in (clearing the cache). This bug could be because of the HEAVY caching of revision3 homepage.

Yes, it is specifically a problem with cookies. We are pushing out updates to fix this today. If you have a problem logging in, these steps work for me (under safari).
-clear cookies from revision3.com (Safari->Preferences->Privacy->Show Cookies, search for revision3.com, highlight and remove)
-go to the MAIN PAGE (http://revision3.com) and log in from there
-Once you enter your credentials and it spits you back to http://revision3.com, hit reload

That should get you in.

I kept on trying to log on and I kept on getting "incorrect password." I proceeded to create a few new accounts and immediately afterwords I got the same message. Why do things have to be such a pain to log on?

Finally after resetting my password 20 times on a new account am I able to log on. Effing ridiculous.

This just started happening to me yesterday. To fix it, I use the Add N Edit Cookies addon to Firefox to delete all revision3.com cookies, then I can login.

I was having problems logging in, it was telling me invalid log in name I figured it had something to do with the everything being down a couple days ago. Still getting it today, I decided to hit the "forgot your password?" link and had it sent to me. The email gave me the idea to capitalize the V in my name, I never had a problem with case before this but decided what the heck. It did it, and here I am.

all issues should now be resolved. If you are having trouble logging in, go to http://revision3.com/login and click "clear your login cookies"

It should be smooth sailing from there.

Ya know what would be awesome? A login cookie that doesn't expire when I close the tab. Maybe an expiration date a week into the future?

cool-times
06-13-2008, 02:28 AM
Yeah, it's getting ridiculous having to delete the cookies every time I want to log in... because I have to log in after every time I browse back to the forums.

Whatever fix there was doesn't seem to have changed much of anything.

instead of just complaining you guys need to help out. give them some data to work with.

for example i am having no problems. i am using Firefox 3 RC2 running in Vista Home Premium

No data is needed. Either they set the cookie expiration date a week in the future or they set it to expire at the end of the session. A cookie is a cookie, no matter what browser you're using.

Revision3 has 13 cookies on my machine. If I knew which one was used for login, I could help out more.

And just to satisfy you, I'm using FF2. No beta or experimental browsers, just the same FF2 that's been out forever.

that's the thing guy, i have never had this problem. ever. so it isn't like it is a problem happening to everyone just a couple of people. why? providing feedback is the best way to get the problem fixed.

whining about it doesn't help anything.

*sigh*

I'm giving the Rev3 webdevs credit by thinking they'd realize what I was saying. Any web developer would have read my comment:

Ya know what would be awesome? A login cookie that doesn't expire when I close the tab. Maybe an expiration date a week into the future?

and thought, "Hmm, did we change the cookie expiration time? I'll check." That's all I was trying to do was get the Rev3 webdevs to think; no further explanation needed.

We're a bit confused by what you're asking for... If you click "remember me" tickbox it should take the same basic behavior you're describing

Nope. For most of the day I couldn't log in to the forums. The main Revision3 page showed I was logged in, but when I go to the forums, I'm presented with a login screen, which never accepted my credentials (it redirected me to the main rev3 page). I tried manually deleting all rev3 cookies and I also tried the link you created on the login page.

It wasn't until right now that I could actually login to the forums. And even though I always click the "Remember Me" link, it never does. If I go away from the page and come back, I'll have to login again to the forums even though the main page shows that I'm still logged in.

If it matters, I'm using FF 2.0.0.14 on Fedora 9.

I mean, in regard to your request for an expiration for the cookie that's set beyond the session. This should be accomplished easily by clicking "remember me" when logging in. As for any other issues that might prevent you from logging in, please send them to support at revision3 doot com to get the proper visibility.

Had to get a password change to login but now works great.

For the last week whenever I sign in, I'm taken to a Rev3 page, not a forum page. I have to reset my password each and every single time I sign in. I've cleared my cache, cookies, passwords, etc., and it's not working. Neither is "Remember me." I'm on FF2 still, don't know when I'll get around to upgrading. I'm going to blame the evilness that is Vista.

I've had a technical issues page [the messiah martin sargeant page] for over 12 hours at the default link [ends in index.php]. I delete the index part and it got into the forums just fine. Don't really know why that's happening.

I don't really know how to start I don't want people thinking im just being an ass but I have tried loging in the forums and the main page for about 2 weeks with no luck It would say i had a incorrect password which it was the same password because FireFox saved it never had a issue before. When I would goto reset my password it said my email wasn't in the database, but yet i receive all my forum subscriptions to that email. Secondly I have sent count less emails to Rev3 support with not even so much as a sorry your having crappy luck reply. What is the deal? Why has no one took the time to try and write me back?

I just hope this issue is fixed. Im not mad or anything I just think it is sad that I have had no support :(

Sometimes it won't sign me in for a few times, and then it will, but will forward me to a Revision3 dashboard that looks like something I haven't seen before. This has been going on on and off for a couple days.

I had login trouble. I had registered to this site. I tried to login but is said I had the wrong password. So, I clicked LOST PASSWORD. It sent me an email to reset the password. Clicked the link. It emailed me a different password. I used the password it gave me. I did not try to change it afterwards. Hope this helped.

Same thing for me too. I tick "Remember Me" everytime I login, but if I close the tab and don't come back for about 5 minutes, my info is gone and I have to login again. :(

Chalk me down on the "it keeps logging me out after a VERY short time" list. It's damned annoying having to login every time I want to post, occasionally if I take too long typing my reply in (like when I'm veryifying some information) it logs me out by the time I press the post reply button!

This happens with IE6, IE7, FF2 & FF3, I have access to different machines with different browsers and the rev3 forum cookie expires in an extremely short time on all of them. The "Remember Me?" option appears to do nothing at all.

Can we have a fix please? preferably one where the cookie doesn't expire for 2 weeks.
