So there's a trailer out for Saints Row 2 that takes aim and fires at GTA 4:

Only reason anyone cared for the first was because people wanted some sort of GTA game and with this and scarface and Godfather was the closest we had then and why they got snatched up on 360..but now that the real thing is out this looks like crap now and no reason to get it IMO.

I'm not a fan of sandbox games in general, but I have to say some of the stuff advertised in this trailer looked pretty cool.

it could be a good game, being fun is enough when compared to gta4. After you beat the story and get bored of the mp in gta it's pretty much a really boring game with zero replayability unless you just wanna drive around and kill people. All the zanny stuff in sr could make the game a buy for a lot of gamers. I for one think rockstar dropped the ball in terms of fun by not putting things like parachutes in the game or other uses in vehicles

the music made the first one. running over people to the 1812 overture = the best moment in video game history (exaggeration but still kinda true).

In all honesty I think the marketing department have made a very smart move.
Saint's row will never be able to compete head to head with GTA, from a technical standpoint, narrative and gameplay mechanic. If they were to be released at the same time GTA would wipe the floor with it.
However, by delaying its release just enough time for people to be completing GTA and in the trailer saying "hey you want to do some mindless action and crazy shit". I think that it will likely get picked up by a lot more people
So well played Saints Row, your comedy and tongue in cheek pokes at GTA will win you some fans.

yes but gta expanded on the idea a lot.
the first one was very fun. i will get the 2nd. and i thought the trailer was verrrry true. i dont want people calling me and getting pissed when i dont want to go bowling!! i wanna screw shit up!
