I really need some money for me to buy the Wii and a bunch of accessories with it. However, I don't have a job, as none are readily available since I live in the middle of nowhere. I am going to sell my Gamecube, Xbox, and the majority of my games. However, where is the best place to sell all this? I would imagine eBay, which could take some time to sell if noone bids right away. I know Gamestop and EBGames supposedly blow for trade ins. What do the dromies think? Are any of you interested maybe in buying the systems or one of them? Let me know what you guys think and how much I should put them up for on eBay (if you think eBay is the best bet).

Ebay is usually the best way because it cuts out the middle man. But for a gamecube and xbox even with a bunch of games they don't really have much value. Barterbee the games and trade the systems in to EB/Gamestop, save up some money and get a Wii. You're not going to get any where close to an even trade no matter what you do.

PS. You can't advertise like that here. It also has nothing to do with the Drome and belongs in the general discussion forum.

I don't know about any of the big retail chains, as I don't live in the US, but if they are anything like here in the UK, you won't get a lot for your systems (especially older ones like the Gamecube) and not much unless your games are really new. But you will get more for trade in than cash, so if you go that way, try to find a store that will have a good deal on the Wii and a good deal on trade ins.

Alternatively, try to find a indie store - there is a used record store where I live that buys CDs, DVDs and games at good rates, and usually I go there before I go to eBay for selling stuff as it is much easier. The same goes for 'We Sell Your Stuff On eBay' type stores, because they know they can get more than the average user will.

As for selling things on eBay, look at what past auctions closed at, and sell your stuff at a fixed price with 'Buy It Now' if you don't want to wait too long. Decide whether you'll get more selling your console and the games together or separately.

selling "a la carte" on eBay might get you the most money if you cross-promote your auctions, take good pictures, leave detailed descriptions, and avoid typos.

however the pains of setting up all the auctions, taking and posting the photos, answering idiotic questions on the auctions, and then shipping everything might not make it worth it. and eBay and Paypal have to take their cuts (wait, Paypal is eBay... ok, eBay takes two cuts).

selling it as a bulk collection on eBay is a horrible idea. it will not be likely to sell and you won't get as much for it.

my advice is take it to EB Games/Software Etc./Gamestop and get store credit. you might not do as well as you could have done on eBay, but it is the path of least resistance. expect $5-10 for each game. if you get their membership card for $10 you get an extra 10% for all your trades, i believe. also, look for specials where you can trade in 2 or 3 used games for 1 new one. they do those occasionally.

Actually, during the holidays gamestop will do a thing that if you trade-in anything over 4 items you get an extra 40% on store credit. so if you were to ditch your entire library for both systems plus the systems, you should get a nice chunk of store credit, enough to get a WII, and some games at least.

Sell the gamecube back to EB on Black Friday. They are supposedly giving an extra $20 for gamecubes on top of the normal trade-in.

The Wii stuff is better. Microsoft just paid off some peeps to completly destroy some of the greats...it's a shame.

(especially older ones like the Gamecube)

Gamecube was released later than PS2 and Xbox. Just nitpicking.

But yeah, I sold a bunch of gamecube games to get New Super Mario Bros when that came out, and you'd better be expecting 2 or 3 bucks back from gamestop. I hate those guys so much.

I've never played the Gamecube. I think I was getting mixed up with the Dreamcast, which is PS1 age, right? I've only ever owned Sega and/or Sony for main consoles.
