View Full Version : Episode 13 - Cigarette Out On Tongue [Discussion]

This one's like a playground dare gone too far...
Effect:
Look your friend dead in the eye and with a straight face, announce that you're going to put a cigarette out of your tongue. And then you do it!
No slight of hand, no switches, no copping out: you actually put a cigarette out of your tongue.
Method:
To minimize the chances of getting burned, you lightly and quickly, dab the cigar on your tongue in different places each time. The moisture on your tongue prevents burning, and repeatedly moving to another place ensures no one spot on your tongue gets too warm.

Next time I'm at a bar and my sister lights up, I'm snatching away her cigarette and doing this. I don't need the free drink, I just want to see the look on her face!

Brian, once again you put on a sweet show.
Now the question is which taste worse? The cigarette out on tongue or the human jack-o-lantern.
I'm not a smoker, so I don't really plan on trying this one out. However, I know the human jack-o-lantern did taste bad.

This was so easy. Tongue barely got warm only did 3 touches to the tongue and it was out.

As a smoker who stopped 6 months ago, I'm almost tempted to try this just once.
But the sweet, sweet nicotine would tear apart my soul again and I would have to start all over.
Maybe I'll stick to the jack-o-lantern.

Instead of a cigarette put out a match on your tongue mini fire eating. :D

Why no hint as to bar you were at this time? C'mon, especially for a bar like Lucky 13.
Lucky 13 has to be in the top five bars of the entire bay area. Popcorn, eclectic (sexy) patrons, great jukebox, huge beer selection, and BBQ in summer. Also, Martin is the most intimidating German yet funniest (always dry) and respectful guy there, and he bartends there most Fri/Sat.

Fair enough... this was actually the last of five (count 'em... FIVE!) shots we did at Lucky 13. Since all our other shoots featured several areas of the bar, we tried to look like this one was in a different spot... and failed. :-) Keep an eye out, there's plenty more lucky 13 to come...

Yea,
But the real question is, can you do this with a cigar --- and would you even want to try :D :D :D.

Um, OW! I'll post a picture if I can get a good one. I practiced successfully a few days ago and discovered how bad the taste is. Last night, after a few Mickey's (the malt grenade, not the lemonade), I decided to give it a shot again, but I didn't want the taste. So I thought maybe my hand would be just as effective. It wasn't. Maybe I should have licked the back of my hand first, or maybe I didn't spread out over enough of a surface. But yeah, that disclaimer that you will burn yourself was a good idea. Meanwhile, I played through the pain, got the cigarette put out, and still got props for the audacity. But I think I won't make this particular trick a regular part of my repertoire...

Yep. That's actually how I learned it. But cigars aren't so common, and I thought the big ash would intimidate people, so we went with the cigarette instead. Try the cigar, though... it looks much more impressive and still works exactly the same way.

I'll try to do that later on today =)
Did this today surrounded by a couple of smokers. Some were in "shock" (because I also have a very long tongue, ladies) and a couple of douchebags wanted to try it out. They failed which made me really happy.
I don't see how you can fail at this trick, though. It's the thought of pain that makes it hurt not the actual heat. I, for one could barely feel the heat.
Also, Ice is for wimps:)
I'm off looking for matches. Wish me luck!

Did you get your hand wet first? I figure that's where I went wrong with the back of the hand (that and the skin on your palm is probably calloused and not as sensitive as the back). The moment the cigarette touched my skin, I knew I was screwed. I felt the heat immediately, and (the reason it burned so badly) some of the cherry stuck to my hand, so even though I did the tapping properly, that original spot just kept burning until I finally brushed it off... I might have a great scar to remind me of my Freshman year of Scam School. :)

I have burnt my self plenty of times. Set on fire because a friend kicked lit bowl of gas at me. I have taken Bic lighters turned them upside down heat up the metal and pressed it to my skin. I have done plenty of dumb things with fire.
But it has taught me to be careful with fire when playing with it. :D

So I tried this one out this weekend, after seeing a friend of mine smoking outside of a bar. I asked him for his cigarette; he had about a quarter of it left. He gave it to me and was probably thinking I wanted a drag. Then I start to put it out with my tongue. Then my friend the replies "Holy Hell the cherry is stuck to your tongue!" At his point I kind of played it cool and spit it off, like it was no big deal. Needless to say the next morning I had a nice burn mark on my tongue.
Anyone else get the cherry stuck to your tongue? Any suggestions so I don't have this happen again?

I think the thing there is to make sure your tongue is plenty moist and don't make contact for too long. You notice in the video Brian seems to gather up some saliva before sticking his tongue out, and he opens his mouth, as opposed to sticking his tongue out through his lips (which would wipe off some of the moisture). Speaking as a guy who also played it cool in the face of a burn, nice job (keeping your cool, that is).

I think I need to do these tricks (tricks that involve fire) BEFORE I start drinking. I don't pull them off correctly when I start drinking. But I get the most courage to do them, when I'm drunk. However, it's totally worth all the pain I go through when first learning these tricks. I've gotten free beers, girls phone numbers and just really fun times out at the bar.
It's all about pain for pleasure!

Plus the scars will be a great reminder of your formative days, when you first began your illustrious career as a barroom scammer. And I will not comment on how your final statement could be twisted.

well i know this scam is old, but i just started watching all of the episodes earlier this week, and this scam in particular piqued my interest even though im not a smoker. the first time i tried this my brother was on our porch smoking a cigarette and i asked him for it and just decided to go with it and put it out without hesitation. i didnt do it properly the first time and it did burn a little bit, but far less than i was expecting it to. the second time which is the one in this video i was on a 10 min break from work and one of my coworkers was outside smoking, so i asked him to record me doing it with my phone while i put out his cigarette...and this is my result:
