Just the other night I watched A Beautiful Mind for the first time. I love it a lot and it is one of my favorite dramas. Russell Crowe did an amazing job as John Nash. . .
Are there any movies that you've known were supposed to be really good but have recently seen?

I understand the concept of the question, but am confused, seeing as you used A Beautiful Mind as an example.

as for movies, i essentially went through netflix and queue'd up everything that i had ever been interested in.
i'm also starting to think this way about games, so i went through looking for classic games i needed to play. recently i checked out Psychonauts and was sooo very glad i did.

Ummm... Classics or must sees? I think last classic I saw was It's A Wonderful Life or White Christmas.
As for cult or must sees... I see too many to really recall. One I did see when I was younger, but didn't care for till I was older was Fifth Element.

I finally got around to seeing Blade Runner a month or so ago (on Blu-Ray, thanks PS3....and Netflix).
"Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" was also great when i Netflix'd it, but I barely even remember the film being in theaters.
Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" is also a worthwhile recommend....and you haven't lived unless you've seen "Evil Dead 2" and "Big Trouble in Little China," IMO (but I saw both of those films years ago).

Ah yes, Bladerunner. I am a huge sci-fi and harrison ford fan; but I had not seen Bladerunner. However, I saw it a couple months ago in a big theater that sometimes rolls out old films. It was amazing.

Still haven't seen my copy of Blade Runner, been kind of lazy bout that.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is also on my Netflix queue. It wasn't out in theaters long, but not sure if its considered a classic. I've heard good things just in the sense of what this thread is supposedly about.
I recommend Kurosawa's "Rashomon", "Yjimbo" & "Throne of Blood (MacBeth essentially)" as well, I thought they were pretty good or come highly recommended. The Evil Dead movies & Army of Darkness are definitely highly recommended for 80's B-movies.
