Ok, so next year we've got the following Geek-stravaganza movies coming out:

Ghost Rider
Transformers
Spider-Man 3
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
(If I missed any, please let me know)

Which ones are you jazzed for? Which ones will suck?

Personally, I'm jazzed for GH (the effect/character design is awesome, so whatever else happens in the movie, I'm just glad I get to see a flaming skull ride a flaming motorcycle)

iffy about Transformers (the effect will certainly be cool, but Bay is quoted as sayin that the movie will be super realistic... word, Mike? Super realistic transforming robots?)

hyped for Spidey (the trailer was wack, but c'mon... it's Raimi, for pete's [Pete's?] sake!)

super hyped for FF (shut up, the first movie was great, shut up, and Silver Surfer will give me several boners at once)

and looking forward to OotP (only read books 1 and 4, and movie 3 was terrible, but Goblet was much better, so who knows?).

Thoughts, opinions, racial slurs? Oh wait, not the last one...

*edit* I forgot some'a deez...

300: Super jazzed. The trailer made me wet, and the fact that it's based on one of the best "comics" of all time doesn't hurt neither.

TMNT: This trailer didn't make me wet. It made me die. My body shut down from sheer joy overload, and I'm now communicating through the internet from beyond the grave. Rest assured, however, I will shatter the barrier between the living and the dead, unleashing a horde of spectral horrors upon this world, just to see this movie opening day.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End: I may be one of the three people on this site who liked this movie, so I'm pretty pumped to see the series conclude, but is it just me, or does this sound like the title to a Curious George book or something? It's like "Pirates of the Caribbean: At the Supermarket" or Pirates of the Caribbean: Go to the Zoo?"

I'm getting sick on the trilogies. Sequels and prequels are ok...but trilogies get boring in movies. Like, I avoided the second Pirates of the Carribean movie and will definately not bother with the third. I loved the first...but I was great where it ended. Why take it any further. I enjoy when books go on to become quartets etc...fantasy quartets that are like 7cm thick each e.g Ian Irvine's books...sooo good...(but some characters are annoying you wanna kill them).

Spider Man 3...ugh..come one. Spidey I love, but I don't think there is a need to take it to the big screen. Straight to DVD is enough.

Transformers...omigod! Can't wait!~ Grew up watching the tv series on early morning tv in ozzieland...can't wait!! Aussie fans...remember the Macca's transformer toys? They were the best toys in that time from Maccas.

Big POtter fan, but not so looking forward to Order of the Pheonix, cause I didn't like that book. Rowling was successful in expressing the pent up anger that teenager experience. But it caused me to hate Harry and I literally yelled at my book.

a third Spidey film is not a trilogy. not sure if anyone is panning a Spidey 4, but Spidey could go on forever. this is not a trilogy, just a third film in a series.

the Potter films are limited to 7, so that makes them an expanded trilogy (movie mini-series?)

I don't see the comic book films as trilogies. There will be a Spidey 4 and hopefully 5 and 6 and 7 and 8 etc. Maybe not with the same people involved but the character is as good as Bond and can go on as long. So can almost any franchise if done right. And I'll be there to see 'em all.

yeah dude I get you. But It just annoys me when there are comic book films made and they don't follow the comic book story. They just use the characters and make up a new script. Its just disappointing.

Though, I reckon they should have left superman alone at the old Reeves movies. I remember hearing you diss the movie. I do not intend to see the movie ever. If I do, it will be to see which scene was filmed in front of the hotel I work at in Sydney. The conceirge dudes told me it was around christams they sealed off our street to film it.

See, they really can't stick exactly to the comic stories. Rather, they could, but it would make for a sh*tty movie. I was weirded out by the organic webshooters too, but coming up with a reasonable explaination for why a high school student can design and build webshooters would waste a lot of time and end up making the character less relatable. I think that sometimes they just have to streamline the mythos to make for a good movie.

As for Superman... I will venture my bold opinion that Returns outshines the Reeves movies. Yeah, Reeves does a slightly better Clark Kent, but where the original fell flat in many places, this one holds together and kicks assbiscuits. Thoughts?

I remember there was this weird moment that I was witness to after seeing Superman Returns when it first came out. I remember being generally entertained and although the ending dragged on too long, I enjoyed the movie, and had a smile on my face for large portions of the movie. Obviously when we got out I asked what everyone else thought of it, and as if it had been rehearsed, all 5 of the people I was with chimed in with "It would have been better if he died!" I was shocked to say the least. They were so dissappointed with the movie, that they were all actually hoping for him to die in the end.

But I can say we all liked the part when he was flying around the streets saving everyone from the effects of the wave. It needed more of that, and less Kryptonite Island.

I think 2006 has been an amazing year for Geeks. 2007 has a lot of things to get excited for but I don't think it's going to be more eventful than this past year has been.

I can't wait till Civil War ends and World War Hulk starts, I think the WWH event starts this year(07) right?

Wait.. is this thread strictly movies?

Because, if it is.. Then I'm knuckle deep for Grindhouse.

and Spidey is supposed to be going back to black! looking forward to seeing if this is just a cosmetic costume change from the Civil War fallout as Spidey ditches the Iron Spider costume, or if Mac Gargan is going to loose the symbiote to Parker.

Yo, comics are ALWAYS welcome in my threads!

WWH is gonna be amazing. Can't wait for the war to end, everyone takes a little breath of relief, when BOOM! Hulk lands back on Earth, pissed the f*ck off. Lovely.

And yeah, I have no beef with Spidey in the black costume. It looks cool, it ties into the movie, and it looks cool. No beefs.

I'm hoping for Gargan to lose the symbiote... he's looking alright in Civil War, but in everything else he's been crap. I've never really liked the idea of him having it.

I actually didn't like the first spiderman movie, so I didn't bother with the rest.

You know nothing is exiting me at the moment. I'm hoping to be surprised pleasantly:)

Spidey said it best... Gargan is B class and will never be a A class villain.
