View Full Version : "Sawyer" as "Gambit"
http://www.moviehole.net/news/20061120_donner_likes_holloway_for_gamb.html
As for the studio’s plans for ‘Gambit’, the producer remains tight-lipped, except to say that he will pop up in one of the forthcoming “X-Men” adventures. (She’s not saying whether that will be “X-Men 4”, the Young “Magneto” movie or “Wolverine”).
“The reason we didn't use Gambit [in “X-Men” 1-3] was because in a sense his persona is a bit like Wolverine in that he's got attitude and his power is not quite as exciting as the others”, said Schuler-Donner. “That's why we went to Nightcrawler on 2 because he looked different than everybody else and he had a great power. So yes, I think we would weave Gambit within our story, [but] it wouldn't be The Gambit Movie”.The fact that he was tapped to play Gambit previously is probably old news, but I hadn't heard it before. That's pretty decent casting I think.
Now, if only whatever the next X-related film is doesn't, you know, suck.

Gambit could either be awesome or a joke.

"power not exciting"? Gambit could blow up the Earth if he wanted to, not exciting enough?

They asked him to be Gambit for X3, but declined because he didn't want to be type casted as the Southern bad boy, so they just canned the character from the movie alltogether. So I doubt that he'd do it for the fourth.

They need to remake the x-men franchise following my superior script and direction. Only then could they integrate gambit into the story and create spin-offs/ sequels.

Great. If you could fund it then we could combine our efforts and save it!

Did you read the link? Because alot of what you said is wrong and covered in the article.
"He auditioned. He signed. He was ready for work," said their source. "They may say that they just didn't have a use for him in that movie, but the truth is, 'Lost' wouldn't let him go for the period of time it was going to take to film his part."

That is rediculous to say that Gambit's power is not exciting! When I was 10, I ran around picking up everything pretending I could "charge" it up and use it as an explosive! You have no idea how many decks of playing cards I ruined trying to throw those things like Gambit. Whatever happens, I just hope those X4 bastards don't let Brett Ratner direct another X-men movie.

i would love them to start over with the X-men movie franchise with an all new cast. maybe an X-Factor movie. how cool would a movie be if it had Havoc, Quicksilver, Multiple Man, Strong Guy, and Polaris? maybe they could throw Cable or Bishop in too. that would be cool.

You pretended to charge them? Loser. I lit them on fire and threw them in the backyard. That's right, I was a 7-year old badass.

Yes, well in comparison, my efforts were clearly lacking in effort. I suppose I had sufficient parental guidance to prevent any sort of potential arson. However I will say that I had a lot of fun throwing my pretend charged playing cards at people. Back to topic, Gambit should definitely be included in X4, but I think he should be played by Vincent Cassel. I don't think it would hurt to have a good actor in there, not to mention a real French accent, as opposed to the southern thing the producer seems to be interested in. Gambit was cajun, a blend of French and southern accents is required...and let's face it, a southern accent is easy to pull off...Jessica Simpson did it...
