Brian,
I totally enjoyed your 12 pt lecture on Youtube. I was wondering why you were against healing touch? Aside from the obvious money scam don't you think that this is providing the patient with positive feelings which I think you kind of explained made them feel better? I agree taking someones money if your not doing anything is wrong but in a sense they can be thought of as psychiatrists in that they provide a positive mental outlook which helps the patient.. So are you against positive thoughts as a healing technique? Can't wait for you to come to Nebraska and can't wait for part 2 of the NYC show. Good luck in life man. Thanks.

IMO, if the patient knows you're not "for real", the healing probably won't happen. In that situation, you have to trick the people or it won't work, and who wants to be touched by some guy for free if they know it's all in their minds? Unless you do charge for it, then you're scamming them etc etc.

On another note, I love what I have seen of SSS. Maybe we could get a full length version of that for rev3 members/a large sum of money?! ;D

I just watched this yesterday... how come it says # of 14? I was bummed when it was only 12 parts.

Anyway it was totally awesome, I'm thinking about coming down from Montreal when you're putting on the show in VT.

Man, that's a really good question. I mean, yes, certainly, some people have experienced massive positive results from therapeutic touch... far beyond the price they paid for the "treatment," but at the same time, study after study shows that there's nothing to the ideas behind TT. (recently, scientific american frontiers did an experiment where a guy did therapeutic touch over some cell cultures, claiming he could heal diseases in the culture. Double blind studies have shown again and again that TT relies pretty much on the placebo effect to achieve its results).

I guess the real question is, do the ends justify the means? And if so, where do you draw the line?

I think for me (at least on this issue) the line is: once your practice repeatedly fails double blind tests, then you know you're selling a placebo. And knowingly selling placebos just seems... douchey to me. I just can't get behind it.

...and if you DON'T know that TT's claims have been repeatedly pummeled by double-blind tests, then you're only off the hook until you know (in my book). Once you know, I feel like you cross into the uglier world of snake-oil salesman.

Did that in any way answer your question?
