Like the title says. Inspired by Cody on the floor beside me sleeping and snoring...with his eyes half open. I'm looking at his pupils and irises, and he's completely dead-asleep and snoring to prove it.
i see a some people exposing every detail of their private lives on the internet assuming that people will find their personal saga endlessly fascinating
sure we all have issues we might want to share at times but a blow by blow novella of every flicker of every eyelash falls within the realm of 'creepy' imho

In that vein, I remember when I was 12/13, there was this website called daign.com and he would just rip into those camwhore girls. I remember he "reviewed" one camgirl whose name was Nic, I believe. This girl filmed every room of her house and the queerest part about it was that she was rather masculine looking. Her gender ambiguity was pretty interesting, but filming her every move was just creepy to me. She ended up passing away. She was hit by a car. (no joke!)

Hmm, I disagree. I think thats becoming the new norm. More and more people are using the internet as a communication/life tool. It's simply evolving.
I do find it interesting how everyone was so concerned about privacy online 10 years ago and now nobody seems to care.

Thats one reason phishing is so successful, another reason identity theft is on the rise. For some reason we all seem to be too comfortable on the internet. But when it bites ya in the butt, all of that changes. Just be careful guys, not everyone on the net are who they seem to be.

i get that people like to talk about themselves ad nauseum
but is anybody reading what they write like: me bf belched three times while we were eating dinner last night
we had spaghetti without the sauce so we used cat sup instead
he was wearing a dolphins jersey and i was wearing shorts showing my hairy unshaven legs
we haven't had sex in three weeks because of his aversion to hairy legs
oh yes we have a red and white checkered table cloth on our table
it hasn't been washed in 6 months because i am too much of a princess to do laundry and he doesn't care
would you like to know about the condition of our sheets in our bedroom ?

Wow, that reads like a typical twitter rant.
I've often wondered how many people actually care about that stuff too. I wonder if it's simply the concept that people are reading one's stuff, that's enough to encourage certain folks to expound on every aspect of their lives. Sort of like a tamer version of exhibitionism.
I'm also left wondering if people that do report on what they have been doing every waking hour of the day, fall into the "overt" or "invert" personality categories when in real life.

You just described Xanga and personal blogs in general. The success of Twitter alone is proof enough that people DO actually care about this sort of stuff. Last night I put this on Pownce:
My dogs farts stink. TMI?
I shouldn't Pownce on pain meds...

I got two responses one of which stated:

I don't need to tell everyone I'm "pretty". They have the capacity to form such an opinion on their own. Humility is a noble characteristic to have. It's a shame so many people lack it.

Yeah, when I was a teen I went camping with my uncle/aunt/cousins several times every summer. Shared a tent with my cousin (best friend at the time) but EVERY morning he would wake up blind. The "sleep" crust literally glued his eyelids together. Creeped me out... and him too, obviously.

Back on topic. Many years ago, on a bus in Champaign, IL I met a guy who carried an impressive booger collection on the fingers of his left hand. As we sat there he pointed at each of the good 13 or 14 boogers and told me a story about it. It was trasncedental.

Creepy thing I've HEARD today - a group of high school girls from a small town in Boston (girls aged 16 and younger) have a 'pregnancy pact'. From this group (they're still not sure exactly how large the group is yet), so far 18 of the girls have announced that they are pregnant.
The girls are not saying who the fathers of their soon to be babies are, but one girl finally said that she got pregnant by a 24 year old homeless man. Speculation is that the girls could have become pregnant possibly by the same man.
The girls said that in this small town, there is little to do. Becoming a mother (in their eyes) will 'give us a sense of fulfillment, and our children will all grow up together. We have a built-in support network of friends to take care of each other's babies.'
What do you guys think about this? I said 'WTF' when I first heard.

Aria told me about this a few days ago. When she first told me, thought it was from the Onion or something. Completely insane, irresponsible, and I hope their kids get taken away from them and they are forced to get sterilized. If they are going to make decisions that are THAT poor, they need not have kids, be around kids, or in any other way associate with kids.

that is because you like to believe things no matter how unture it is. who got fire because of this "pact"? what teens have been interviewed off camera? the only person to said anything about this is the principal who now "has since told city officials that he cannot remember who his source was for the tale of the pact."
i like what the school committee chair man had to say “I’m calling into question the whole pact thing,” said Verga, who will be among the officials at a meeting Monday morning with Gloucester Mayor Carolyn Kirk and other city leaders to discuss how to deal with the pregnancy spike at the school. “I have reason to believe that no one has come forward other than the principal, who is saying he heard someone say it. The more logical occurrence is that two or more girls got pregnant and decided to have a pact to stick together from that point on.”

I get your point but that wouldn't completely stop it as you're saying. I never had any "abstinance education" classes nor did we have virginity pledges. We had regular ol sex education and there were girls that STILL got pregnant. It happens, nothing will prevent it 100%.

I think those girls have been very insulated from any of the consequences of the decisions they've made in life and thus think that getting pregnant will be "fun" and "cool."
I won't say that abstinence only education is the cause of such stupidity, but I will say that abstinence only education does NOT work. During Clinton's presidency, our country did not have an abstinence only policy and teen pregnancy rates declined. Now, we have an abstinence only policy and rates have increased tremendously. (No, I don't really intend on linking anything. If you choose to disagree, I'm probably not going to rebut. I'm just not really interested in debating something where I know I'm correct with at least that fact.) Anypoo.

It's not the sole cause, but it's a contributing factor. Teens are going to have sex, regardless of the kid of education. At the least, they need to know their options to protect themselves. Also parents need to take some initiative in educating their children. If they're too stupid to want to bring it up with their kids, I don't believe they are mature enough to have had kids yet. Be a fucking parent and take some responsibility, and the god damned government needs to stop pushing its religious agenda on public schools. Schools are for education, and condoms are part of education.
Kids are dumb. Plain and simple. These girls are especially dumb. It's girls like these that were why I hated spending time with high school kids when I was in high school.
There was a pact at my high school for a bunch of girls to try having baby girls to name Jasmine. Only a handful from my class graduated without babies. I was one of those who didn't have one. Even my own best friend had a baby (a girl named Nikka) and married the baby's father. Nice to report, they are still together and have a son and are doing well. Most of the rest? Well, that'll be the future of those Massachusetts girls. They just killed any chance they had of getting out of that town.

And the school prides itself on being friendly to teen moms, and it even has a full-blown day-care to help all the teen moms stay in school. Its great that they recognise the problem. Its bad that its become a problem that had to be recognised. At least by encouraging the mothers to stay in school they can complete an education ... by the sounds of it, their prospects in town aren't much good in the long run anyway, and without at least a hs diploma, they are going to be toast.

I'm thinking tax payers. Most of those kids'll be welfare babies or in the foster child circuit. A small percent may be kept by their mothers whose parents will help out. But when that's your BEST case scenario? How sad.

Exactly. The taxpayers will pick up the tab. The taxpayers have a right to know where the money is going.
I'd bet most of the babies stay with the moms. Most, if not all, will end up relying on welfare though, even with the help of their own parents.
Taxpayers and society in general has a right to be outraged. People work and barely make their own bills and have to send money they can barely afford to spare to raise the kids of teens who have them to be part of a club.
There've been stories in the news about how workers are at the point where having babies is being put on hold because they can't afford babies with the recession, but babies born to welfare moms are slightly increasing.

Your proof that it absolutely was not the case here, that this sudden four-fold increase in babies in one year is coincidental? Show me your proof.
i love the way you have selective belief when it comes to stories like these. you want to get on your high horse and preach about some social problem that you feels needs to be address and you won't let things like the facts get in the way.
So it is selective to believe the many news sources that are reporting on there being a pact in a small, dead-end town? I lived in a small, dead-end town in high school where a lot of the girls made a pact to have baby girls to name Jasmine. It can happen. I believe it did happen in that town too.

see that is the point, they are not reporting that any more. now the are reporting some thing different so yes it is very selective. and your "pact story" probaly didn't happen either, but even if it did what does that have to do with this? hell in my "small dead end town" all the football players formed a pact to shave their heads. what does that prove? nothing.

They're also enabling the mothers to make their babies status symbols. The stigma is being a teen mom is completely removed, so having a baby is now cool.Comhcinc needs to watch a little CNN. There were three stories leading the news this morning, George Carlin, police arresting a man who was flashing at kids at a Anaheim Hotel (and the ensuing police chase/shooting), and the Preggers Pact.
They were in Glocester interviewing people. People who could independently coroborate the story ... including a guy whose step daughter (who didn't want to appear on TV) was approached and bullied by the girls involved because she didn't want to go along with it. Also an interview with a girl from that school who had a baby before the whole pact thing started (I guess she was one of last years "4") that said she wished it hadn't happened, and it wasn't all peaches and cream.
I think the mayor is a fool as well. Even worse, I am guessing she is a deeply religious fool, and that there is more to this story than is being said. Especially when the fathers (sperm donors - you know they will not be active parents) are up for stat rape if found out.
One thing not shown was the 22yo homeless guy who would do anything for a cheezburger. I bet that chick was ugly and just wanted to belong (I know, that was a low shot at a girl with esteem issues)

And I live in a small town
Prob'ly die in a small town
Oh, those small communities
All my friends are so small town
My parents live in the same small town
My job is so small town
Provides little opportunity
Educated in a small town
Taught the fear of Jesus in a small town
Used to daydream in that small town
Another boring romantic that's me
I've seen it all in a small town
Had myself a ball in a small town
Married an L.A. doll and brought her to this small town
Now she's small town just like me
No, I cannot forget where it is that I come from
I cannot forget the people who love me
Yeah, I can be myself here in this small town
And people let me be just what I want to be
Got nothing against a big town
Still hayseed enough to say
Look who's in the big town
But my bed is in a small town
Well, I was born in a small town
And I can breathe in a small town
Gonna die in this small town
And that's prob'ly where they'll bury me ...

Oh yeah, I didn't think of that. I don't think they really fight though, the most aggravated the squirrels at my place get, is during humping season, which they've WOKEN ME UP doing. They play chasey-chasey 110mph around teh tree, hump for a bit, and then keep running around, chattering away the whole time.
Electrocution is likely as well, but hard to imagine how exactly, and extra hard to imagine how he ended up in that position. It looks like he fell from heaven and kinda splatted on it. No tree branches above the telephone pole either. I'd take a pic, but the zoom on my camera sucks.

When you're 14, 15, 16, becoming a parent can screw up your life. Your options are far fewer, and as for priorities? Damn, want I should go into stories about all my cousins and their babies they began having before I had my first kiss? (I'm the oldest, and yeah, some of them were parents before I had my first kiss.) What priorities they have? Babies having babies. Babies who can sign to have their babies' ears pierced, but can't get their own pierced. Pregnancy and parenthood was a mistake. And in that terrible little town, NOT having a baby by 17 is shameful. Birth control is non-existent, so not having a baby is seen as not being desirable enough to have sex.

Sky, someone else brought it up. They can be attractive all they want, but they are passing the burden of their choices to others. So you are wrong, it does affect me. It affects everyone. Who do you think will be paying for their children to be raised? Back when I still thought I could have kids like everyone else I was still pissed about teens having babies.
Nature "intended" people to have sex. How dare the court punish a man who holds down a girl and has sex with her. Just because nature "intended" something doesn't make it automatically right. We evolved into having self-control, to know when it's the right time to do something. It seems self-control is evolving, quickly, right back out of us.

What's wrong with saying that people should only have children when they can afford to raise them? That it's wrong to have them when the parents can't afford them? Why is it okay to pass the bill of child-rearing to others, but not okay to pass food bill to others? Food is necessary to live, but having a child is not, yet the one that is technically optional is subsidized for anyone.

yes and just like those girls you should get yourself an education before you have children
you might want to consider philosophy since you enjoy arguing
that is what philosophers do they argue their points of view but they get credit for it

Pretty sure rape is all about sexual desire. As defined by rapists, rapees, nature, and law. Not many rapists pick people to rape they aren't attracted to sexually. If it was about power/control, they'd call it income tax, not rape. Similar, but one is based on sexual desire.

And what are you saying about grannies, that they can't be sexually atractive to some ? Penii don't discern.
I wouldn't say sexual attraction isn't a factor but I also don't think it's the only factor. Some people are sick and get off on that sort of thing. However, I think it's more of a power thing then anything else.

whoh. just cause it includes sex acts, don't mean it is sex. the hard high one is just the rapists way of saying "I own you" it is the attack, capture, dominance in the rapist that causes their erection, not, "oh, I'm a horndog tonight, maybe I'll f*** the first female I see, If she is hot or not."

Nobody said it has to be a hot chick to get some sort of sexual pleasure out of it. People can get something sexual out of just about anything. In psychology, we learned about a guy that got turned on whenever someone opened a window. True story.
There are some messed up people out there. A person hurting someone else for their own sexual pleasure is really no surprise. It's sure as hell crazy though.

Don't disagree, but that's a combo thing, stalking with rape. Plane old Rape is strictly a power trip. Total dominance. "I can't get it by asking a hot chick, so I'm gonna take it from whoever I can."

I don't think you can really categorize the intention behind every single sicko rapist on the planet though. One guy may do it for power but another guy may do it because it's sexually pleasurable to him. You can also make the argument that the need for power is to fulfill a sexual urge.
Joe gets off being in a position of power. Joe being a messed up in the head decides to rape a women to get that power which in return fulfills that sexual urge.

No *sigh* it's not about dominance and power, it's about fucking. Fucking fucking, fucking. It's exactly what you just said it's about in that last sentence. A rapist gets sexual pleasure out of taking control, during sex. During what? SEX ! Stop focusing on the small, and look at the larger picture. Power and dominance and control are side-affects of sexual desire and arrousal.
BDSM fetish stuff is about power/control and what not.... that's why some couples play rape games, when having SEX. See the common factor here? Unless the word "it" refers to something else in your sentence, you're contradicting yourself.
the hard high one is just the rapists way of saying "I own you" it is the attack, capture, dominance in the rapist that causes their erection, not, "oh, I'm a horndog tonight, maybe I'll f*** the first female I see, If she is hot or not."
Nope, exactly opposite. 90% of rape is exactly that, a man fucking the nearest thing he can and doing so as quickly and easily as possible. Date rape is a moment of convenience. Serial rape is the closest thing you can find to a rapists M.O. being power and dominance, and it is the least common occurrence of rape.
Ask 88% of the military's female population.

What I've been saying.
The sexual urge fulfillment is the most common, usually through a method of convenience and limited choice and chance. The power/dominance thing is rarer, and it's done as a need to achieve something they can't, like, have sex with consent. Most men with power in their day to day lives actually prefer to be without their power and control for sexual fulfillment.
BTW I like how we're treating rape like it's something only men do to women.

The way I understood it is you're getting money for the IVF, which you'll be trying to get as soon as possible, at which point you'll quite possibly be on an even more tight budget than usual, having spent money on the IVF?
I may have misunderstood the whole thing, but that doesn't sound very much like waiting for economic stability.
We have other things that are a higher financial priority right now. If we had our way, we'd have the money ASAP, and do what we could do ahead of time, such as having my tubes closed off lower. That doesn't mean punching out a baby tomorrow.

Thanks, Rae. For a few days it seems like a few people here have a sudden personal vendetta against me, and it's pissing me off severely. No matter what the topic is, they manage to drag a few things into it and attack.
This was a creepy things thread, someone else mentioned those girls having a pact, and it's turned into a thread poking at me for not having a job right now and wanting IVF because I want to be a mother. Parenthood and the ability to have children is something a lot of people take for granted, as is having work, especially in the current job market.

It's a combination of the two. There's some power trip, some sexual urge. Rapists get off on the power they have over another. The two are connected. I mentioned rape at all because it is a sexual act and Sky said those girls were just doing as nature intended in having sex and babies, and I was trying to point out that just because something is a natural act absolutely does not mean that it's right. I could have asked if it would have been right for a girl to try having a baby at nine because she started her period already, and, hey, it's as nature intended.

the job market would be more open to you with a ba or a bs (i see ads for jobs at google all the time on linkedin but they wouldn't consider you due to your lack of education) you can change that by putting the energy you put here into a college classroom any college classroom
and lastly it would make you a much better at arguing

Pursuing a degree takes time I need to be putting into finding a job right now to help us out until we move. With some luck, after we move, Cody will be making enough that I can spend time trying to get my business going again. $10 says someone here will find fault with that though or that I shouldn't be thinking about babies because I'm not gainfully employed by someone else.

exactly so
it takes time and commitment
that's why employers like google hire people who have put in the time and the commitment
most of the people on this forum have either put in the time and commitment or are doing so now or are about to

that's why employers like google hire people who have put in the time and the commitmentThe degree is less about what you have learnt (although that helps a lot - esp with the Google interview problem solving exercises), as demonstrating a capacity to learn complex concepts, and hopefully communicate those learnings to the interviewer. The older you get the more "real experience" counts as a degree equivalence, but that testamure counts for a lot to get you in the door for the initial interview.

exactly which is why for many jobs it doesn't matter which degree you received
what counts is you mastered a discipline
if you can master one you can master another

Humble.. Rofl!
School isn't for everybody, Aria. There are plenty of great parents without a college degree. Hell, our potential first lady, Mrs. Obama? Yea. Her parents didn't get a college education, and she's a kick ass chick, and will most likely be the First Lady!
While getting your life in order before having children is ideal, it doesn't mean you'll be any less of a mother if you don't wait. I wasn't ready to be a mom when I got pregnant, but I hear from strangers, teachers and doctors all the time, that my kids are excellent and we must be good parents.
Anyway....
