They tried to make a timeline for the Zelda games in Zelda Retrospective 6. Play it. Watch it.

I just wish they would make a Zelda for the 360, the graphics really don't look much better than the N64 but the gameplay is fantastic.

The graphics are by far better then the N64. Really. Look at Ocarina and Majora again. Then look at Twilight Princess. It's great. And the controls are what make it too. It's going to be weird going back to a classic controller. The purchase of my 360 just went back a year. This thing is solid.
Now what about the timeline!?!

as someone you is a zelda fanatic...this is great. my only problem with the series is the timeline issue. i usually take each game as they come, but i always wondered about how they all fit togeteher. i know nobody knows for certain..prolly even the game makers, but this is a good start.

Yeah your right, I was just saying for a next gen game I wish they were better considering how beautiful the Zelda Universe could be. I hate starting new Zelda games though because I'm so OCD and I have to complete it 100% or I won't be satisfied. It took me like two years to find everything in the Ocarina in Time.

Yes, but where does the cartoon series fit into it all.

Wow, that's completely different than the timeline I had decided I like best a few years back. The split timeline deal is very interesting, and definately can make sense and would explain Oracle Ages/Seasons. I always saw the timeline as follows though: 1)Minish Cap 2) Ocarina of Time 3) Majora's Mask 4) Twilight Princess 5) Wind Waker 6) Oracle of Ages/Seasons 7) Link's Awakening 8) The Legend of Zelda (original NES) 9) Zelda 2.
I do like the Zelda 2 as the ending theory because game says that Link banishes Gannon for the final time. I've been planning on beating through all the Zelda games in chronological order for the longest time, but I keep buying new games and ruining that plan.

This is why Americans in general (not you fine guys and gals) suck at buying video games. Because they look at the graphics, and don't bother finding out which is more fun. Hello, Katamari Damacy, anyone?

I'd say Americans like killing people and stealing stuff in games more than they do graphics, case in point the GTA series selling so well, and the PS2 selling so well eventhough the graphics look like ass.

Dude, anyone that says GTA sold so well simply because of killing people and stealing stuff obviously hasn't played it. It was so great because you could go ANYWHERE and do anything you want at any time. It was a virtual playground. After all, what's the highest selling PC game ever? That's right. The Sims.

Listen hear mother fuker...the problem with the rest of the world (excluding Japan) is that they are too friggin retarded and don't have the mental capacity to create a culture that lives in the 21st century . Go back to your hut and sharpen your rock and thank you lucky stars that America and Japan gives you the gift of electricity and Katamari so you can stop beating off looking at you stick figures you drew on your cave wall.

That was an awesome find Jlo. It all makes perfect sense to me now.
Although things would be so much easier if we could forget oracle of ages/seasons.
I think that Twilight princess goes between ocarina and windwaker. I think the events told of in windwaker are the ones we will see in TP.

The controls are really nice, you use the nunchuck's joystick to move around, shake it left to right in order to do a spin attack, and z-trigger on the nunchuck does z-targeting. The d-pad on the Wiimote is dedicated to items, press a direction and it gets equiped to the B trigger, which makes using the slingshot great. The map is set to the 1 button, which is kinda out of the way. Overall the controls are great, I like how I can easily play in bet not having to have my hand right mext to each other. When you bring up the slingshot or any other precision weapon you use pointing Wiimote to aim, which is really easy. By swiging the Wiimote Link will swing his sword. I'm not very far into the game (about 3 hours) but I can already tell that there will be a lot cool Wii remote moments.
I hope that future Wii games take note from this, not using the motion tech for everything.

I downloaded all six parts of the timeline thing. I did realize that by playing the first quest I really didn't know Zelda and Link at all. Also, I realized that I find it a lot of hard work to buy the Twilight one and learn all over again. Call me old, but this old dog is done with playing video games for the foreseeable future.
Can't teach an old dog new tricks. Woof!

I love Wind Waker, when I first heard about it and saw screen shots I was with everyone else screaming bloody murder. But then I played the demo, and pre-ordered the game on the spot without even having a Gamecube. The game has to be one of the best looking games of all time. Only problem, it's way to damn easy, fun as hell, but easy, kinda like Fable.

I'm getting that impression, too. But frankly, I remember Ocarina being super easy, and I loved it. I only died 8 times. How do I know? Because this is back when Zelda games had those 3-digit numbers next to the file. Ever wonder what they were? They were how many times you died.
And if you can get a copy of the gamecube Ocarina of Time, which was released as a promo or something, they basically made the game a GAZILLION times harder, so check that out (I couldn't get through the first dungeon :( ).
