Just found out my great-grandma (dad's mom's mom) died. I actually liked that relative. I always heard all my life (the oldest great-grandchild born to the oldest grandchild) how much she and I had in common, and we always got on so well when we did get to see each other.

Katherine F. Bullinger was born on January 24, 1915 in Mandan to Julius and Clementine (Gustin) Bullinger. She was raised and educated Fallon, ND. On January 4, 1936 she married Martin V. Osborne in Bismarck. Having raised their family and having been happily married for 66 years, Martin died on July 30, 2001
Katherine was a woman of determined independence, always up for a challenge. Having been raised and educated in Fallon, ND, she learned the value of hard work and taking pride in whatever you do. She was honored to have worked as a cook at the governor’s mansion during the time William Langer was governor. She continued to work as a cook for the Mandan High School for 13 years.
Katherine enjoyed the wonders of nature while working in her flower garden. One of her happiest times was to be out fishing, which won her the North Dakota Whopper Award. As she would say, “I can out fish any man”. With a love of music, singing with family gave her opportunity to polish her soprano voice. She was a member of TOPS for many years in and with determination, won the TOPS 1984 biggest loser award. With this same determination, she proudly lived independently until the age of ninety one.
Katherine is survived by five daughters, Dolores (Myron) Wiley, Buffalo, MO; Katherine (Robert) Stallwood, Kennewick, WA; Juanita Osborne, Vernon, CT; Loretta Osborne, Billings, MT, and Mary E. (LaMar) Kruckenberg, Mandan; two sons, Lawrence L. (Jeri), Buffalo, MO and Kenneth W., Brazil; four sisters, Gen Knoll and Ida Bullinger, both of Tacoma, WA; Leona (Ken) Lohstreter, Mandan; Marguerite Lien, Marysville, WA; 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Martin; two infant daughters, Mary Belle and Judith Angela; two infant sons, David and Baby Boy Osborne; two grandsons, Michael and David Wiley; one great-great infant grandson, Daniel Sangray; seven sisters and two brothers.

If you're wondering about the "Baby Boy Osborne," babies weren't always given names if still-born or if death was soon after birth. Naming all babies is a relatively new thing.
