Japan Airlines (JAL) - $1930 ... and that is leaving in 2 weeks time. 3 weeks will be cheaper, 3 months out cheaper still.

Tell them to try searching via kayak.com, it is a sort of metasearch engine site. It found that price via travelocity. Once you find the cheap price online via the discount sites, do a search on the airlines website directly. You can often get the same online price, but pay lower fees.

Vayama (also found found the kayak search) found it for $1750ish.

Now. Want it cheaper? Can you get the domestic leg to the hub airport (eg SFO, ORD) cheaper using someone like Southwest? Try it. How about the other end? Most flights into Japan land in Narita - so is there a better way to get from Narita to Okinawa? To be honest, booking end to end is better - the airlines look after luggage transfer, so you dont need to recheck luggage in, and you are also subject to international baggage restrictions rather than a mix of international and domestic.

Its all a game :)

Insanely jealous. I loved my visit to Japan a couple of years back. I only got to go to Tokyo (business trip), but it was a wonderful culture shock ... especially late night Akihabara.

i live like you on an island

you can't walk too far before you find yourself facing water

i remember a school counselor once asking me if i had ever gotten into any kind of trouble or ever run away from home

'i lived on okinawa so running away from home would have required a passport and a plane ticket costing thousands so no i never ran away'
