Great show but the GTX 280 power usage was a bit misleading. The chart in Jason's review is total system power, not power draw from just the card...

The GTX 280 uses about 183W on it's own
The GTX 260 is using about 146W
The 4850 is using about 95W
The 4870 uses about 120W

Thats not to say the GTX 280 isn't power hungry, the 9800 GX2 dual core was drawing the same (183W).

Also, you don't need a 1000W PSU to run any of these cards, a good quality 500-550W with good +12V rail will be enough. The 1000W+ PSU's only come into the picture when running these cards in multiples (SLI or CrossFireX)

For example, two GTX 280's in SLI would pull about 347W and three would grab 523 no-so-green-but-highly-entertaining watts.

This was a pretty fun episode. Lots of useful info for others out there but not much for me but it was a funny episode. Veronica and Patrick work really well together and Veronica is always so cheerful. Loved the outtakes.

What is with the MS ads btw, same with the Bank of America ads. I don't get them...

While the color photoShopping is a tad weak, what really strikes me about these photos is that V's charm really doesn't come through in the photo. I guess she has to be on TV and be moving, talking, reacting, to become the V we love.

I love the Wine Library TV ads. I find Gary's antics hilarious, much like Moujan and Kelly in the popSiren HP ads. The only complaint I have with the Wine Library stuff, is just that it is in front of every Rev 3 show.

This is probably less of a problem for a casual viewer, but when you are a fan, any repetitious ad is going to get frustrating (how many of us tune out the GoDaddy ads now?).

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I kind of felt that when Veronica and Patrick were going over the audio math, numbers should have appeared for visual effect. I don't know how much longer editing would have been if that was added, but I don't think that having numbers just thrown at me would really have as much effect as seeing those numbers on the screen.

As long as it's not done in a tacky way. But it was still a great episode overall! :)

If only encrypting the root partition in Linux were as easy as Patrick showed. The Linux TrueCrypt GUI has no options for encrypting the root partition on-the-fly. TrueCrypt's documentation says whole system encryption is only supported on Windows. http://www.truecrypt.org/docs/

From my brief googling, it is apparently possible to do this with TrueCrypt but difficult. Using dm-crypt and LUKS would be a better option. Also, the alternate Ubuntu installer disc supports whole disk encryption during the install process.
