Is Wanted dead or alive? We put another brick in the Wall-E and get a grip on Guitar Hero for DS. Plus, looking forward to Diablo 3 and back on BSG and Lost.

I gotta say I agree with Dan... Mary McDonnell is amazing in BSG. And I can't believe you guys didn't mention the episode before the season finale of BSG... she carried that entire story arc, made it worth watching, and in my opinion she deserves an Emmy nomination for it.

Great show, guys!

Great episode guys! I agree - Lost is totally back on track and better than ever. Can't wait for Season 5. I've heard so many great reviews for Wall -E, so that's definitely next on my 'to see' list. As someone who didn't read the Wanted comics, I thought the movie was quite good, with respect to the action sequences, acting, and the look of the movie. The story (as Alex mentioned) was not top notch, but that's to be expected from a 'summer blockbuster'. :D

Another great episode, I agree with you Jeff on the Wall-E stuff and probably a little more disappointed with the ending of Wall-E myself. I'm curious to know what each of yours 3 top Pixar movies are. Mine are Ratatouille, The Incredibles, then Finding Nemo.

Edit: Also, I love watching the Olympics.

Edit 2: As a Canadian I'm disappointed that you forgot to wish your brothers in the Great White North, Happy Canada Day, you American prudes :p

Just started the episode, but let me just say before i forget. 3 left handed guys review Guitar Hero DS? Alex's initial comments about it feeling unnatural may have to factor in that he's writing with the devils hand.

Pretty much just pausing the show after each segment now.

I couldn't disagree with you guys more about BSG this season. I don't think they've jumped the shark, or dropped concepts at all. Maybe a bit slow, but I'd rather slow than have the downfalls of Lost (including random shit they can't explain just to keep people talking).

Almost every point that you brought up as a downside to this season of BSG, was an existing aspect of previous seasons. It's always been strangely religious. The reveal at the end of the President Adama story line said in as much words what your criticism was. "You might as well just spell out one name, just one. One we knew from the start."

And as for the Admiral's reaction to Tigh being a Cylon, I think you took it too much at face value. If this show was all about predictable character reactions, we wouldn't have any interest in it in the first place. My interpretation of his reaction is what's been shown in other episodes especially with Sharon's character. He's fighting an inward struggle, he wants to feel it's the right thing to do to trust them and treat them on an equal playing field, but deep in his heart he hates them and can't trust them. It's really a parallel with modern racism. There are people that know it's wrong to be racist, but given the world they grew up in, and their early expriences, they still have racist tendencies deep down.

I'm not saying this as a huge fanboy of the show, I just happened to watch it all a second time through recently and think you guys missed a great deal. The writers strike may be to blame largely here, I think the timing of this whole season of television has been greatly disrupted.

If you have the time (which you may not, but some of the other forum members may), I suggest you go back and re-watch the series. You may see different aspects to episodes you forgot, that help fill in the blanks. Or you may see some cool things, like episodes with elements that suggest the writers (but not the actors) know who the final 5 are. It's pretty cool.

I cannot believe they liked wanted. The writing was piss poor. LOOM OF DESTINY. I am start to really believe that I have nothing in common with these guys in terms of taste in movies. First hating Get Smart, then liking Love Guru, and now Wanted. *sigh*

BSG sucked this season
Lost rocked this season
Wall-E was amazing
Wanted had great action sequences/fx, albeit with so-so writing

I too, do not understand the recent Battlestar hate. I probably have a very different perspective of the series because I've only recently discovered it, and I pretty much went through the entire series in a couple of weeks. I can see some of the points made in the TV segment, but by no means has the show jumped the shark. Especially not in the Season 3 finale, the last 5 minutes of that episode were nothing short of epic. Maybe this season is a little bit slow, but... I dunno, I'm still digging it. Can't wait to see more.

Wall-E, it's a given that it's amazing. Probably my personal favorite Pixar movie. I definitely see where Jeff is coming from about the humans disrupting the flow of the movie, but none of that bothered me while I was watching. The set-up was endearing enough, and I'm so into sci-fi stories and dystopian futures, that I was hooked the whole way.

This was a fantastic episode! So many good topics of discussion, and some truly hilarious moments. Please continue to be so very rad!

I figured you guys would do a Pixar opening, and that one was VERY well done (good job in post, Steve!). I also want to give Dan one karaoke pointer:
Choose a song you know the words to.
This might sound obvious enough especially since the words show up on the screen, but you'd be surprised. Let me give you an example that I just made up off the top of my head: You might think you know the words to, say, "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" until you're standing in front of a bar full of people with a microphone in your hand when you realize the only words you actually know are, in fact, "It's five o'clock somewhere" and the guy running the karaoke is feeding you lines while your roommate is standing next to you frozen like a deer in headlights. Or some other completely fictional example...

Yeh, out of suburb and city, amazing roads and fun to drive. Inner city, every road is like, "wait, you can park on this street and still have two lanes of opposite flowing traffic, on it ?" Gotta know how wide your car is in London. I've actually been part of a group of ppl that physically picked up a car and moved it, as we were escorting a bus trying to make a turn, and the car was parked on the corner, badly, so 5-6 guys picked it up and moved it.... that one kinda disturbed the locals, especially as we were all wearing black, jumped out of a van, moved it, and jumped back in.

I took this one somewhere near Cardiff. Managed to capture the fun of the road I think.

It's fitting that the guys would start liking Lost this season, which I felt was kind of a letdown. In the past episodes their main complaint was much like most of the audience, in that "things not getting answered, nothing happening", etc. How is this season different? What did they answer? We still don't know anything about the Others... we know that Ben can somehow control the smoke monster. But who didn't suspect that?? I think most likely what happened is that the casual viewer got tired of the old formula and the writers got you back in by the flashforwards.

btw, i can't believe Alex and Jeff never watched Zoobilee(sp?) Zoo. i'm the same age as Dan so i guess that's why i knew what he was talking about. it was a cool show for kids and there was a cute girl on it who dressed up like a kangaroo. ;)

I guess Lost is the anomoly to actually have a fantastic season even in the midst of the strike. I really hate that excuse, it's used for Heroes as well. They've all had plenty of episodes before the strike took place, but these series still squandered precious screen time on stories that didn't go anywhere and character pieces that sucked. In fact, I don't even think BSG's season was affected at all (in terms of having it cut short). Yet the mid-season finale was rushed like hell, compared to the sweet time they took to get all the pieces together for Revelations.

Everything else on TV this year has been drawn out and garbage. It's so bad that more focus is put on the shows that aren't reruns or reality TV.

I think people need to get out of their battered wife syndrome with Lost. It was only a good half-season, and only in comparisons with the trash we've been dealing with for the past 2 seasons. It may be talking sweet to you right now, but it'll beat you all again. And I won't feel sorry for any of you.

Ok I just have to say this but msmags you are just sooooo gorgeous.

Sadly I have to disagree with the guys on Wall-e and yes you actually can have ho-hum pixar movies. Cars was better then this because the pace was always fast. For me I was frustrated as Disney billed this movie as an action movie but the action was in the last 20 minutes. The rest was showing the depressing loneliness of Wall-e on the wasted planet earth.

I think Jeff didn't like the animated people more for the fact that it showed everyone over weight in hover chairs, talking to other people through holovid screens while the person was right next to them detached from society (or what there was of one) It potentially can make some people uncomfortable seeing what CAN happen to society when it becomes too dependant on technology. It's cool when you show the good side but show a potential bad side or dark side and people want to close their eyes because it rubs them the wrong way.

I loved the short in front. I was in stitches and oh alex review the shorts they are ALL about one gag over and over again and the alien one wasn't about a driving test but an abduction test with a new recruit shame on you. It was a good movie but not a great movie. I have seen better from pixar and even Dreamworks.

I reserve judgment on Wanted, however, alex hit it right on the nose. you have to go into different movies with different expectations which is where researching what the movie is suppose to be about or based on BEFORE going. I was one that read the comics.

TOTALLY disagree about Mary McDonnell. Yes she is a good actress but god man NO way did she carry the show. The mellow drama with her on again off again cancer is just sooooo old and what person in real life this close to death would wait so long to tell someone they love them. Not realistic at all. The strength in the show is Almos and at one time it was a good balance between all the main characters.

I do however agree with everyone's view on how the show has been going especially dan. this SHOULD have been the next episode after the premiere. It took too long to wrap characters up and some characters who the heck cares if their story is wrapped up. I mean C'mon what happen to the fracken war and would you really have reporters when you are struggling to survive?...NO you would put them to work just like everyone else. It definately is time to end the show and for the love of the GODS don't support this Dallas version of BSG called Caprica it just down rates the cult following to a joke. When I think back to last years interviews of the women and Moore at Comic-Con I just want to flip him off for making all these extravegant claims about just how good this season will be. Ppfffffhhhtttt

Ok bit of a rant but love the forums

I know, I know. Opinion is opinion. I'd usually be the last person to say I disliked an episode because of the guys opinions. But.... the latest episode... the guys speared me through the heart with their comments on Battlestar. Especially Jeff. I think it's because I usually find myself agreeing with most things Jeff says but.... you know what it's like when somebody you respect and admire comes out and says something that just shocks you... something you didn't expect to disagree with?...All the Twitters and the comments from a couple of shows ago... my subconscious tried to ignore them. I mean, he didn't drown any baby's or anything, I need to keep it in perspective... but I don't know.... It could take me a week to get over this :) The comments from all of the guys felt dismissive. I know that I'm perhaps seeing it that way because this is something that I love. I never thought I'd hear Jeff dismiss a show for spending time building character. I didn't really expect Dan to enjoy this first half of the season. I wasn't sure where Alex would land. I'm standing in the shoes of all the Metal Gear fanboys from last week. I'm not saying this season's been blockbuster, but it's been good. I agree that Lost's been better than Galactica this season, but the guys comments washed over me as I sat there, mildly depressed. There's light at the end of the tunnel though... Jeff said he'd continue to watch. The best thing about TRS is that there's always next week. A minor personal setback.... I'll recover :)

P.S Adama didn't spend half his life with Sharon or any of the other cylons. This deceit cuts deeper. It was personal. Tigh's infiltration was obviously a strategy aimed at having someone close to Adama. He'd done things in the name of fighting an anti-cylon war that now seemed like the highest order of hypocrisy.

another nice show guys. i like wanted. but the ifanboys dislike of the movie really get into my head. so i was a bit surprised that you guys like it.

wall-e was good. i dont have the problem of humans being in the movie, but i have the problem that there are real human footage and there's animated people. it would have been great if it's animated people as the president instead of fred willard. i dont think if dan ever explained that part with the cg problem with incredible hulk. can anyone tell me if they did explain it?

nice opening. really simple and it worked. it would be great you guys can do another tv opening sequence as th eopening. is full house and voltron are the only tv openings? it would been fun to see you guys do neon genesis evangelion's opening. i don tknow how you guys gonna d the robot animated parts, or they dont have to be robots i guess.

take it easy, it's just a show and everyone is different even people that seem to have similar tastes. I stopped watching bsg a few eps into season 3 just because of what alex mentioned with the political crap that hurt star wars. The show became less about fighting cylons and running away and more about politics and discussions with cylons.

Also i'm surprised the guys didn't like wall-e more, i absolutely loved it. I did however dislike the way in which humans were portrayed. I think it could have been a bit better than that but whatever, the real people mixed with cgi didn't bother me for a second; however i don't like fred willard that much.

I'd like to see Dan sing:

'All By Myself' by Eric Carmen (high range, so his voice may crack!) But it's slow (aka maybe boring), so here's my second recommendation:

'Take On Me' by A-Ha: the best song of the 80's

To give him the benefit of doubt, I'm willing to bet these guys were not seasoned players. 10 dollars says it was just a group of guys playing a sport they aren't experts on. To give him the benefit of doubt, I'm willing to bet these guys were not seasoned players. 10 dollars says it was just a group of guys playing a sport they aren't experts on. Don't feed the worthless troll homey.

I agree, WALL-E was fantastic. As much as I loved it (which was a LOT), I was also a little disappointed about the real actors. Their integration didn't feel seamless to me.

But yeah, another great show! And I can't wait for the Dan Becomes A Man segments to return!
