View Full Version : Shows to watch at Vegas?
My family goes to Vegas every year for a week because my little sister's dance national finals are held at Vegas. So far we've seen Le Reve at the Wynn, Ka by Cirque du Soleil, Phantom of the Opera and some cheesy magic show. We're a pretty artsy family so we definitely prefer the Cirque du Soleil type performances but we're open to anything. My sister is going to go see Spamalot with her friends, my mom and I weren't too interested in seeing it and we might go see the Rockettes.
Do you guys have any suggestions for what show we should watch this year? I really want to see Zumanity but my mom is too embarrassed to see it with me and Love wouldn't really be too good for my mom and my little sister because they're not very enthused about the Beatles.

To be honest you still can't beat the original Mystere at Treasure Island or O at the Bellagio. O is especially impressive since it is done over water.
I fyou want a non cheesy magic show, see if Penn and Teller are on at the Rio. They are regulars there, and put on an amazing show.

Blue Man Group still around ?I always forget about them in Vegas ... despite that being where I saw them (Luxor ... awesome pool area). Even if you have seen travelling performances of a number of the shows in Vegas, the fact they have a permanent stage allows them to take it to another level. Blue Man Group and Cirque shows are a great example of this.
BTW - Plenty of free stuff in Vegas too if you know where to look. Pirate show at Treasure Island is obvious, the water/light show at Bellagio equally impressive, but often overlooked are the circus acts that perform at the Midway area at Circus Circus.

My friend was in BMG's crew, and said they signed a $5mil/year, 5 year contract at Luxor, but he said that to me over 5 years ago, so I wasn't sure if they were still there.
I've actually never seen a show in vegas that I wasn't working at. Come to think of it, I don't go to shows ever..... wait, come to think of it, I don't leave the house very often.
P.S. Lil Darlins was really good.

Looks like they are gone, and replaced by yet another Cirque show ... "CRISS ANGEL Believe™ (http://www.luxor.com/entertainment/entertainment_believe.aspx)" (opening Fall 08).
That's a show I wont be seeing. Criss Angel just pisses me off.

Even though I saw them in Philly, Cirque de Soleil is absolutely AMAZING. I saw the Delirium one and Nitza (a beautiful singer) opened up for them. One of the coolest experiences of my entire life. I HIGHLY recommend it.

I got seduced the night I first saw Cirque. It was all part of her plan I learnt later.

Penn & Teller and Blue Man Group. Both of those were worth the outrageous ticket prices.
I liked the Cirque de Soleil show i saw, whichever one had the big pool of water, but my wife and the rest of my family loved it.
If I went back again I'd probably check out the Beatles one.
