Hiya!

I want to install ubuntu on my eee but I don't have an external drive.

I found a tutorial online on how to make the live distro bootable from an SD card without having an MBR issue. Unfortunately, my PC won't boot off of the live CD. Kernel issues. It won't even test the drive for errors.

I'm wondering, do any of you have "ready made" usb versions of ubuntu, kubuntu, xubuntu etc?

Backtrack is the only Linux I am able to run off of an SD card, but it's too unstable and the atheros drivers are lame.

thx

I heard running an OS off a thumbdrive will burn it out very quickly, just like having a page/swap file on a SSD drive due to all the writing.

True. The swapfiles will burn the thumbdrive to its death.

But I've thought about it and, I want to install Ubuntu off of an SD Card.

tips?

When my mom dropped her laptop and the drive failed I used a different walk through but I don't have it in my bookmarks anymore and cannot find it.

It basically went through the manual section of this, and it worked fine. There are a number of things that pop up when you search for "ubuntu live usb" with google.
