The ad campaign for Wine Library has convinced me not to ever watch Wine Library. And I will have to stop downloading and watching the shows that carry those ads including Tekzilla(daily & weekly), Systm,Diggnation,PopSiren, and Epic Fu.
I've been watching Diggnation since Kevin and Alex started it and I downloaded Kevin's original Systm shows long before there was a Rev 3 and I've enjoyed them all along the way. I was a paying member of rev 3 way back when.
But the Wine Library campaign has convinced me that it may be time to move on. It's been worse than infomercials and far worse than root canal therapy. And you put it into every show. There was no escape. I'm used to hitting the mute button when watching cable, but I hadn't expected the level of obnoxious crap on my poor little iPod that keeps coming up in every one of your ads promoting Wine Library. If I had thought that you were all drunk when you dreamt up this campaign, I could be forgiving. But such a massively annoying campaign can only have come from sober minds. Are you trying to compete with public access ? The campaign has been terrible. Why are you abusing your viewers this way?

Impossible, since SYSTM and REV3 launched on the same day.

I haven't seen this campaign yet... but that's disappointing to hear. I've been watching WLTV for quite a while - I don't get to see every episode but I typically enjoy what I've seen. I was pretty excited for both Gary and Rev3 when they joined forces. I haven't watched many Rev3 shows over the past few weeks just because I've been too busy... but now I'll need to see what this whole campaign is all about.
As a side note - I'm a wine collector and just starting to do some biz with WL and so far they've been very helpful - a good experience overall.

The ads were before and/or after every podcast in the Rev 3 stable. It was not simply a 2 or 3 minute ad, it was a 4 wall campaign of several ads. If you watched a lot of Rev 3, there was no escaping it. The ads (plural) were ubiquitous. Eventually no matter how carefully you trod, you had to step on one.

You know about Winelibrary TV now. You might not be inclined to watch - but you can't say it didn't raise awareness.

Well, considering that the popSiren bits haven't had a Wine Library ad this week and I don't remember one in Sytm, go leave. I don't care.
Getting so upset about a commercial? I just wonder how you would react if something serious happened.

Ok people, the OP had a very valid point. No sense in trolling. These ads were damn annoying.
I don't understand why he would just stop watching Rev3 shows but he has to voice his concern and he did it without being obnoxious and rude. The hosts simply could have announced the show or mentioned it a few times during the shows. These ads were interesting the first two times then it got annoying as fuck. I wanted to stop watching altogether too but I guess I'm a little more loyal.

I just saw the first WLTV ad in the beginning of TRS. I didn't mind it (although I am a WLTV fan) ... and FF still works.

Just my 2 cents. I havent checked this out yet, but i just want to say, on the net it seems a 15-20ish second commercial is all im prepared to tolerate. 2 minutes and im turning it off. I cant even watch TV anymore cause im so used to having minimal commercials.
So just sharing a observation.

You know what's funny is I'm exactly on the OPPOSITE end of the spectrum..... I would have never heard about or cared about wine library tv had it not been for those crazy ads... i tuned in and I'm absolutely hooked... I am THANKFUL for the ads that rev3 has put on its other shows... it isn't like they're doing ads for third party companies..they're trying to expose us to other cool shows that are on the network, and I think it's a good thing. Big ups! Also, Gary... you're pretty much the man, lol... doubt I'd still be watching a show about wine tasting if it wasn't for your infectious nature.

The spots were funny, for the first day or two, then they got old. Same with the "Oak Monster" spots. Perhaps they should have done two versions, one serious and the other over the top and had them mixed in usage.

Also, there are tons of viewers including myself who only get Rev3 content from iTunes. If it hadn't been for these spots, most people would never even know of the show's existence.

Two things. I don't have an iPod, but I would assume they have a fast forward feature.
And the iPod is your problem. You must be subconsciously regretting the purchase of an iPod when you should be using a Zune.

*Raises hand*
The commercials are the only reason I discovered the show. I had wine once about 6 years ago and immediately decided I didn't like it. But since I've discovered the show, thanks to the commercial spots, I've actually tried a few different kinds of wine with dinner and I'm starting to get a feel for what I like and don't like.

I for one enjoyed the adds and still laugh at them when I watch an older episode form when they ran. Get over yourself.

Final analysis. If you support rev3 and want to them to grow, suck it up a little as they try to promote and keep things going while they >>> trailblaze <<< IPTV. There is no corporate backing and they are trying to make it work for all of us.

let's face it - you can't run a business if you don't make money.
maybe they haven't found the perfect balance between content and advertisements yet, but overall they are giving a lot more than they take. great content and a little bit of ads. if you don't like it, good like finding the same kind of quality elsewhere.
Even though the advertising worked, it worked in a negative way, so it doesn't matter.
