I'm sure there have been several of similar threads to this, so I apologize beforehand. However, just like each new "I might buy a 360.." thread, I figure I might get a little aid from fellow TRS fans.
So, here's the deal: I'm 23. After 5 years of being a broke college student, I've finally graduated and landed a job as a web designer. My life is actually looking up and I'm starting to feel like a real person who can actually pay his bills.
I own a 360 Elite and have dreamed of actually getting to play it on something other than the 27 inch RCA floor model television I currently have that my parents bought in 1992.
I am looking for a little advice as to which route to go down, brand wise. I'm thinking of like 42 inches and probably LCD since I have a lot of glare from the sun in my living room.
Does anyone recommend anything right off the bat? I've looked at Samsung, which look nice. Polaroid as well, yet I'm unsure of their TV track record. I was at Sam's Club checking out the Vizios they have there, too.
So give me some hints. Nothing too expensive, since I'll eventually have to start paying those damn loans back. Under $1000 would be fantastic.
Thanks.

I don't know anything about new tv's (my liv room tv was made in 1985) or xboxes, but I"d reccommend buying some curtains.

The seems a little unpractical. I mean, curtains can cost almost 20 or 30 bucks some places.
I'd rather just blow a grand on a tv.

Try Big Lots!
and I also know nothing about new TVs, scared shitless about the analogue turnover next year. but. I suggest checking out the sadly now defunct indigital episodes in the rev3 archive. a little outdated now, but will put you on the right track. I miss those guys :(
also, older DL.tv eps if you can deal with the not Patrick Norton guy.
Oh, dude. and congrats on the graduating and nice new job! Paying bills rocks!

40 inch Bravia. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8828708&type=product&id=1207957070478
1080p, 2500:1 true contrast (probably around 10k dynamic)
Its a little above 1k, but totally makes up with quality. You wont miss the 2 inches.

I know, but argh. why should I have to? i just want leno when i go to bed. (actually, not a leno fan, but you know what I mean.) I hate gov mandated fees. I hate parking meters, i already pay in taxes for use of the road, what's the dif if my car is moving or standing still. double dipping, if you ask me. same with car registration. all it should take is a postcard saying "YEAH THE CAR IS STILL IN MY NAME, BITCHES/BASTARDS." I'll pay for a 40+ cent stamp to tell them that, but not 80 bucks a year so they can click a check box in their database. fuckers. yeah on a rant. got more. Wanna hear it?

As godmode stated the Bravia's are great TVs and with Sony you get what you pay for. It may be a little more expensive than another tv at the same size but the reliability and stability is great with Sony's TVs.
If anything just pay attention to contrast ratio.

This is true. I've got 3 Sony Trinitrons in my house from YEARS ago and they still work fine and look great.

+1 for the Sony Bravia LCD, I've got one and it looks fantastic, even when it's turned off...
