Henceforth, in this drome of geeks, there will be a new union! No longer will you be alone as obsessors of album releases, band news and concert dates, or "hey FRIEND, OBSCURE BAND did a side project with OTHER OBSCURE BAND! isn't that SICK?" FRIEND: "WTF?"

We shall be called

it's no click. i wanna know where my music geeks at. what i'm most interested in isn't represented at all on geekdrome, and i want to see if there's anyone into what i'm into! because from the looks of it, there's slim to none.

music lovers come together!!

I think it's harder to be a music geek than any other kind, cuz there are just SO many different genres. I mean, I'm open to pretty much anything new, but usually I end up listening to older stuff, and only occasionally obscure stuff. But yeah, I dont know what the point of this thread is, but I'm all for it.

Maybe we should just post last.fm info or something like that, so we can track what music each other is listening to? I dont know. Someone figure it out. I ate too much to care right now.

just for me to get an idea about who here geeks out on the music world since it's in no way represented and no one ever talks about it on the forums

the last.fm link that shows your last 10 played songs as an updating image, which you would be able to put in your signature, but revision3 doesn't allow sig pics. foiled again. :(

anyway, it's found here. http://www.last.fm/tools/charts/?subpage=gallery&subtab=popularity#LastBody looks like this http://imagegen.last.fm/greyboxwide/recenttracks/drifco.gif

damn, that would have been nice.

I know you're gonna kick me in the balls for this one.. but...

What's last.fm?

hive
11-24-2006, 05:31 AM
it's a program that takes the info from what you play in winamp, itunes, or windows media player and recommends other music for you based on that. does a bunch of other things based off of that.

So this is the place where we should talk about music in a geeky way?
Last week I had a really great geek/music moment when I saw Sufjan Stevens play live. I dont know how obscure he is considered everywhere else but over here he is hardly mainstream. However when the band played "The man from metropolis steals our hearts" Sufjan threw inflatable Supermen from the stage and some plastic Supermen came flying down from the balcony and into the crowd.
Of course someone captured and youtubed it.

If you get the chance to see Sufjan live you need to go.

Concerning last.fm I tried it some time ago, got annoyed with the software and deleted it. However I tried it again now and it seemes to be better now.

Yeah I guess we should declare this thread the place where we talk about music in a geeky way. Anyway, I just started listening to Sufjan Stevens a month ago and I'm really enjoying most of what I listened to so far.

And being that I just signed up with last.fm now, I'm confused with all this scrobbling non-sense.

It can be found at http://www.last.fm/group/Geekdrome%20Audioheads

Hive, I hope you don't mind that I stole/copied your words for the description.

no problem, do what you want. i just want a way to see who else is into it. this thread isn't intended to talk about anything, just for me and others to get an idea about other people who are otherwise unrepresented!

you want a way to identify yourself? its simple, do as other groups do here and put audiohead in your sig in any way. its nice to know there's people around you that share a similar mindset in your interests, that's the whole point. :)

Every time I see this thread, I think of that old joke which goes: "Dyslexics of the world, UNTIE!"

Sorry, couldn't resist.
