Just watched the pilot to Flashpoint, and I'm officially impressed. It started out slow, a little too slow to be honest, but once it got past the set up of the crime I was locked in. If you have some time check it out if you like cop shows:

I'm downloading it, ETA 60 minutes. It was a bit small and buffering slow and a bit bad fps on the ctv site.

I watched it last night, certainly took a turn for the serious side. I'm hoping it's not much of a criminal-of-the-week thing, and focuses more on the characters. It does seem like it's heading in that direction.

I hear amazing things about this show and my brother really liked it so I'll watch it soon when I get time.
Us Canadians need some good homebrewed TV

When I clicked on this thread, I thought this was going to be about the "film" school that exists here in Chicago. My bad! :D

Finally got to start watching Flashpoint today. I watched the first three episodes back-to-back, and I am impressed. That dude from Just Shoot Me, he's in it, and he's cool. I can't remember his name. But anyhow, I finished catching up on The Unit, and so I needed to move on to something else, and it was between trying to slog through Season 2 of The Wire, and starting Flashpoint... So far, I like the choice I made.

My dad is living in Europe right now and just told me that Skytv is carrying it on ITV so that drastically opens up the possible viewership. It continues to get great reviews and given it's low budget it's hopefully somewhat recession proof. They're currently finishing off filming the second half of season 2 and it's looking good that they'll be back for season 3. :)

One of the byproducts of the writers guild strike. Networks were worried they'd need extra shows to fill in the schedules, and struck deals with CTV and CBC. Our networks then tried to please the American networks and focused on shows that the Canadian public wasn't really that interested in. Canceling promising new shows (I miss JPod), using the old Fox constant schedule shuffling technique to justify sticking with the pre-paid ones.
It may be a good show, but I'm not that interested in it, and it's certainly not the best our production studios can put out.
