Hey, since Alex mentioned that he enjoyed "The Alienist", I thought I'd recommend "The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes" series by David Pirie. The individual books are "The Patient's Eyes", "The Night Calls", and "The Dark Water". They're really great, and I wish the author would write another one, it's been a few years since Dark Water came out. They're kind of hard to find at bookstores, but Amazon has them all. :)

Those sound tasty. I may give them a try.

They're quite good indeed. They focus on Arthur Conan Doyle and his inspiration for the character of Sherlock Holmes. I should add also that it might be possible to find them at the library, I saw "The Dark Water" at my local library yesterday. And obviously if you're in the UK you'll have an easier time finding them. I got my copies from a friend in Edinburgh.

BBC actually made a tv movie out of the series as well, but I've only ever seen one part of it (the only part that Netflix had available), and it seemed like it kind of cut off in the middle of the story, so I'd definitely recommend reading the books FIRST before seeing the movie(s).

Oh, and I picked up "The Alienist" at the library yesterday, yay!
