My friend is getting the 3G iPhone soon, and I want to buy his old iPhone. I already am on an ATT plan, and I have a RAZR as a phone right now. If I buy his phone, can I just switch out the sim card, and use it just as my own?? No hassle whatsoever?
Since I am a current ATT customer, does this restart my 2-year plan?

Do you have a data plan? I think that if you add a data plan, not sure if ATT has a special plan for the iPhone, that they might add the 2 years to your contract.
From what I have read, an ATT sim card is an ATT sim card. Of course, since you don't have an iPhone plan, those iPhone specific functions should not work until you change plans. Also, keep your old phone, in case you ever need to send the iPhone away for service. Just put the sim back into the Razr.
The only issue I can see in going from your current phone to an iPhone is that you will most likely have to change your phone plan. iPhones have specific data/voice plans which the Razr doesn't have. You can call ATT and ask them about the pricing.

Even the original iPhone requires the special data plan? I thought that only pertained to the new iPhone 3G?
