Billy Joel played the first of two shows here in New York at Shea Stadium in Flushing. It's the last year of the stadium so it's being dubbed as 'the Last Play at Shea'. Well he came out and tore the house down last night and just wanted to share.
He played for three hours straight, non-stop, without intermission. He's no spring chicken I don't know how he does it.
He had some special guests that included Tony Bennett who he sang along with to "NY State of Mind", John Mayer came on stage to play the guitar part to "Times to Remember", Don Henley to play "Boys of Summer" as an homage to the NY Mets for letting him play in the stadium and last but certainly not least John Mellencamp who came on and played a truly inspired version of "Little Pink Houses"
Billy Joel played virtually all of his hits from his stellar career and also tipped his hat to the Beatles - who played the first show ever in Shea Stadium in 64 - "She Loves You" & "A Hard Day's Night".
An unbelievable show, one of the most impressive I'll get to see in my lifetime I'm sure of it. Just thought I would share with ya'll and if you have a chance to see him (I believe he's touring) do it.
