Billy Joel played the first of two shows here in New York at Shea Stadium in Flushing. It's the last year of the stadium so it's being dubbed as 'the Last Play at Shea'. Well he came out and tore the house down last night and just wanted to share.

He played for three hours straight, non-stop, without intermission. He's no spring chicken I don't know how he does it.

He had some special guests that included Tony Bennett who he sang along with to "NY State of Mind", John Mayer came on stage to play the guitar part to "Times to Remember", Don Henley to play "Boys of Summer" as an homage to the NY Mets for letting him play in the stadium and last but certainly not least John Mellencamp who came on and played a truly inspired version of "Little Pink Houses"

Billy Joel played virtually all of his hits from his stellar career and also tipped his hat to the Beatles - who played the first show ever in Shea Stadium in 64 - "She Loves You" & "A Hard Day's Night".

An unbelievable show, one of the most impressive I'll get to see in my lifetime I'm sure of it. Just thought I would share with ya'll and if you have a chance to see him (I believe he's touring) do it.

Yeah I feel you on that. I paid a little over $100 a ticket but I'm big on live shows so it's one of the things I do to spoil myself.

I paid 70 bucks to see my favorite band, the show is in September.. but I really don't think I could bring myself to spend over a hundred dollars. Especially a show on the scale of a stadium one.

I saw him last year at the RBC Center (Raleigh). Awesome ... and it would have been 15 or so years earlier I saw him at the Sydney Entertainment Centre (Australia) on his Storm Front tour.

He wasn't quite as energetic on stage, but still a perfect showman.

Shea would have been a magical venue to see him.

Who is your favorite band?

I'm not a huge Billy Joel fan, but I think it would be cool to see him. I used to go to every show possible, but saving for a house means I've got to be a little choosier, although I'm still pretty fortunate in how much I get to see. I saw Ministry recently (won tickets), Radiohead (great show), Iron Maiden (cheesy, I know, but way better than I could have hoped, and a childhood wish finally fulfilled), The Cure (amazing show), Tom Waits (mind blowingly good) and I'm about to see Nine Inch Nails again.

My Bloody Valentine.

Oh my god, I hate you! Where are you seeing them? When I heard they were getting back together I figured there was no way they'd play anywhere near me, and so far I'm right.

I am so hoping the new material is nearly as good as the old. Loveless is still one of my most listened to albums. The latest Portishead gives me hope. Not that they sound anything alike, but I hold both of them in similar high regards, and if Portishead can come back from that long leave and still make an album as strong as Third then Kevin Shields should be able to manage as well, right?
