I've recently become a big fan of classic metal. I downloaded the entire discography of these bands, and I don't think it is worth keeping everything. I am looking for you metal experts out there. Which albums are worth keeping. I'm shooting for maybe three regular, a live, and a greatest hits from each band.
Help me pick what to keep and what not to.

For Iron Maiden, I'd say these:
- Brave New World
- A Matter of Life and Death
- X Factor
- Live DVD: Rock in Rio (awesome)
AC/DC:
- Razor's Edge
- Back In Black
- Highway to Hell
- Live DVD: AC/DC Live
Black Sabbath
- Master of Reality
- Heaven and Hell
- not sure what else
Those are just my suggestions, and I have the opinion that Iron Maiden's newer stuff is improving in quality. Lots of people may disagree, but try it.

I think for bands like that the only way is to listen to them and for YOU to decide whats right to keep.

Um, if you downloaded the entire discography...take some time and listen to everything a few times. I know that for me, some of my favourite songs are sometimes the ones that don't make people's lists.

For Maiden, Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave and Live after Death. However, as damnedeyez suggested, keep 'em all for a while and find out what you like.

Never EVER let Back in Black leave your side. Ever.

Would you believe, the only AC/DC in my collection is the Dirty Deeds disc? I've always found their other stuff enjoyable, but it was never high enough priority to acquire. Usually wanted something else more.

Definitely get Live after Death, as it's one of the best live albums evar!. Rock in Rio is definitely good, but pre-breakup Maiden albums (before 1992) have a different feel than the kiss-and-makeup albums (after 2000). Skip (or take with grain of salt) the three albums without Dickinson singing.

Lastly, don't forget Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, for a metal-epic story.

I'm not as much of a fan of the recent Iron Maiden. My suggestions for Maiden would be:
Powerslave
Somewhere In Time
Piece of Mind
Live After Death
Black Sabbath:
Paranoid
Black Sabbath
Masters of Reality
We Sold Our Souls for Rock N' Roll
