Ok, this is bad quality and will probably get removed soon, but here is the first look at the new Tron movie with Jeff "I like to be in geek movies" Bridges.

Ummm. Awesome.
I mean it could still go a whole lot of wrong but my jaw pretty much dropped for the first 10 seconds. Its exactly what i want visually in a tron 2. So far. Lets see how the plot is now.

...
I'm trying to keep from getting to excited (a bit difficult...ok, greatly difficult after seeing that), considering how many movie's from my childhood they've 'updated' or 'revisited'.

Quite interesting. I still can't picture it capturing the feeling of Tron. And mind you, I watched Tron in like 2006.

....
Run, dont walk to your ... umm.. browser and open a new tab and put it in your netflix que. Its pretty much a geek requirement to see this movie. Not in the " your not one of us if you dont " way, but in the " omg you really are missing out " kind of way. Its really old at this point, but the art style if you ask me really holds up. That to me was the most exciting thing to this trailer, how true the art style seems to keep to the original.
Im kinda happy, cause now we all get to bring tron to diane and anakin. :)
Tell us what you think about it when you see it.
Im actually putting it back in right now. Got the 20th anniversary edition and havent seen it in a long time.

I've been waiting for this day to arrive. Now only if the story lives up to the trailer. It's not going to be easy to modernize that story, but I look forward to seeing how they manage it!
So they're handing this to an untested commercial director. Now, his work looks pretty sweet visually, but can he tell a story?
I guess there has to be a first movie for everyone, but don't use my Tron as a practice run.

Most directors get their start in commercials nowadays. I can see that the movie is going to be visually stunning - I hope it turns out well. I liked that the clip seemed a bit dark in mood. I hope that they put a good writer on this.
I get what you mean about the visuals being "cool" (I think) - it's almost too digital (is this what you meant?). Part of the visual appeal of the original Tron is how analog it felt. Hard to explain. The visual effects weren't up to today's standards of course, but I don't think Tron would be as appealing if it were say a cartoon. I think it was the real world feel of the actors and real sets overlaid with the digital reality. hmmm

That dude did the GOW 'mad world' thing.. I was reading the project info for it, and it said David Fincher was a creative consultant, that's pretty sweet.

Wow, I guess it is time for Anakin and I to see Tron.
And have him play Tron 2.0 as well (you, too, if you haven't). It's easily one of the coolest FPS ever if you're a geek, and a perfect example of how a licensed property should be handled when making a game.

When I realized Tron (movie) wasn't in my collection (I've no idea why not either)...I went to amazon, and added the game with it (it was only like $10, and I had been wanting to try it.)

You know whats funny. Watching that again, it really has a epic feel that even though its true to the past, fits in with the movies of today. A testament to the first movie. But the funny thing is, that this movie that has been such a pillar in the geek mind is now set to be thrust back into the mainstream mind. I can see this movie being very popular. So a part of our geek past that mainstream didnt really embrace is potentially about to be embraced 20 years later. I just find that amazing. Shows how ahead of the curve we all are huh ;) Geek is the new cool after all perhaps.
Is the game really good. I heard mainly luke-warm reviews of it when it came out. At the time I don't think my rig was up to snuff so I passed. I'll see if it's available on Steam or in bargain bin somewhere.
Wow no spoiler tags in here? Seems like it would be a great thing to have.
*Spoiler*
I hope they bring Ram back. I was quite sad when he was derezed
