Awesome news out of San Diego Comic-Con. Spider-Man director Sam Raimi announced that he's getting back together with actor Bruce Campbell for a fourth installment of their stellar Evil Dead franchise. Though the zombie-filled series has been dormant since 1992's Army of Darkness, Raimi—who was promoting his upcoming flick, Drag Me to Hell—told fans that part 4 is "in the wheelhouse."

"I love working with Bruce Campbell... He’s super willing to do anything to make it right. He’s a very funny guy, but mostly he’s got this quality where he will physically do anything to get the shot done right, so I would love to work with Bruce again because I’d love to test those limits. I’d love to make another Evil Dead picture. And actually that’s in the wheelhouse. I’d like to work on it with my brother Ivan [Raimi] when he comes up next week.“ Geeks of Doom (http://geeksofdoom.com/2008/07/26/sdcc-08-sam-raimi-to-do-evil-dead-4/)

I don't know how I feel about this, especially after Raimi having done a lot more big budget stuff now, I'm afraid if he goes back and trys to revitalize Evil Dead it's going to lose it's charm. :(

What do you guys think.

People said the same thing before Army of Darkness came out in theaters. I'd love to see another take , hopefully in the future using the original ending to AoD as a jumping off point.

I wouldn't get too excited. Raimi has been saying the same sort of thing about Evil Dead 4 for a decade now. I won't believe it until there is word of actual pre-production work.

I've enjoyed the Army of Darkness Vs. Marvel Zombies story line of dimensional jumping for Ash. I'd like to see where he's fighting off deadites in parallel worlds. I'll believe it when I see more, because a remake was supposedly in the works awhile back on top of a sequel. So till I hear confirmation, I'll just wait and hope. In the mean time, where the hell is "My name is Bruce"? Is it out and I've missed it for years now?

If Campbell is involved they have my money. ED2, and AoD are two of my favorite films. Actually a buddy of mine has 'evil Ash' from ED2 tattooed on his neck. Kids these days :p

I didnt care for AoD vs. MZ that much, although I do agree that the parallel world jumping is an interesting concept for a film.

It worked enough for me. I got a laugh at Spidey getting his jaw around Ash's head. Also, the Howard the Duck moment was worth it.

I think it would be incredible for them to do another one. Cambell and Raimi both know what the fans want and I think they'll be able to deliver

If this really happens I'll be very happy. The Evil Dead Series has been responsible for my taste in over the top comedy horror for a long time.

That'd be pretty cool. I like Campbell enough where I'll probably see this just for him, but Raimi is a good choice here and will give this series exactly what it needs.

I was at the panel where Raimi said this, and honestly, he just kind of sounded like he was throwing the audience a bone.

I would LOVE to see him do another Evil Dead. If you think he might be "too past" doing a low-key type of horror, I suggest checking out Drag Me To Hell when it comes out. Judging from the clips that he showed at SDCC, he totally still has the Evil Dead comedic-horror mentality. It looked outrageous, frantic, and slightly over the top funny like older Raimi movies. DON'T JUDGE IT BY THE TRAILER! They showed that first, and I thought it looked a little stupid. After seeing some of the actual movie, I was sold.

Good or bad, I'd pay to see it either way. If Raimi wants to do another ED, I'm all for it.
