Radioshack and WalMart have cable splitters. They're just small metal things with one connector for in and two for out. You'd obviously have to buy a couple more lengths of co-ax also, one to maintain the connetion to your brothers room and one for your room.

At least they're that readily available in Canada, I would assume that's also the case in the US. If not I'm sure there are online retailers you can buy from.

Thats it. Question is, what do you want to do with it? Just split for TV? I assume you guys have a cable modem in there somewhere as well.

While you can make your own cables, unless you are going to do it multiple times, get a premade cable as well.

I figured if there was a cable modem it was already split somewhere for that, but yeah token's right make sure you have enough outputs and cable for everything you might want.

Also the more you split the more the signal will degrade, but for just 1->2 you shouldn't really notice any change.

Oh also, if you have a decoder box you won't be able to split unless you get another box since the signal will be scrambled.

Some times the cable installation guy will install attenuators due to the signal been too loud (strong). In this case split it loads of times and remove the attenuators.

If you are not far from your cable company's offices, drop by and ask.

All they can do is say no. But you may be surprised. Some systems care about the stuff that is installed on the network and will give you a splitter. I would.

you removed the video so i really can't see what you are talking about

if you are spliting your cable signal two thing you need to keep in mind: if you have a cable modem of digital cable you really don't want to split it. if you split the modem line you will lose speed on your internet, hell you might lose internet. same holds true with digital cable. lose too much signal strenght and you will get bad quality video.

good luck.
