I hope they don't keep putting the HD video out in .mp4 I just can't seem to get it to stream to my xbox. I looked online and I found some things, but none of them worked, I just can't seem to get the video to show up in my Windows Media Player library. I would have ignored it, but Systm was also put out in this format and I just hate watching it on my small monitor. Any help will be much appreciated!!

I hope they don't keep putting the HD video out in .mp4 ...

Thankfully it's here to stay (Seriously, it's a smart move) - http://revision3.com/blog/2008/07/26/revision3-hd-feeds-moving-to-mp4/

It was my understanding that the 360 natively supports h.264 in .mp4 since like the spring 07 update.

this is actually wmp11 being ornery, as opposed to a compatibility problem with the 360. By default, wmp11 doesnt know about mp4. There are a couple (not officially supported) solutions:

1) rename the file from mp4 to avi or wmv

note that the resulting file will *not* actually be a wmv or avi, but it *will* trick wmp11 into indexing it. and sharing it out. When the 360 plays it back, it doesnt care about the extension and will discover it is an mp4/play it back correctly on its own

2) force wmp11 to honor mp4 files. you can do this with a registry edit. see http://a8t8.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!2518DD508BB713E8!156.entry for the entries.

3) use the zune software instead of wmp11. microsoft blessed this software to properly see/use mp4 files.

note i havnt actually tested any of these, as i dont have a 360/wmp11 box in front of me, but that's where the problem is in any case.

Nero Media Home will work if you have it. It streams all of the Rev3 formats to my PS3 without the need of transcodeing. WMP11 while easy to use was starting to annoy me by not reading some xvid files that were not properly encoded.

And thank your for the HD formats in .mp4. :) The PS3 can't play .mov files by default.

OK, I did the reg edit not sure why it has me download those other programs, if someone can tell if I need to keep them that would be great. And holy Batman the video looks amazing! I mean its just crazy good... Plus I glad I don't have to change the .mov to .avi and I can finally set these up to auto download each week!

Install the Zune software, it has native mp4 decoding, and it works a lot better with your XBox. I don't have a problem with the Zune software while streaming to my XBox as I did with WMP11. I switched entirely to the Zune software and I don't deal with WMP11 except web videos.

Again, Install the Zune software and share your videos through that, its basically WMP11 with added features, and to me, its faster.

Man now for some reason it wont stream .wmv, I should have just got the zune software, but nooo I just had to go and mess with the Registry...
