Jesus Christ Kevin/Alex you people use to work for TV and yet you still can't seem to figure out that Sci Fi is owned by NBC Universal which in case you didn't know is in turn owned by GE. NBC owns:
NBC
CNBC
MSNBC
USA
Sci Fi
Bravo
Telemundo
Sleuth
And they manage the finances of many other channels. Also, the show on Sci Fi before Battlestar Galactica is Dr Who. A show that has run in the UK off and on since the 60's. It is extremely popular their and since the series rebirth on '05 has gained a very larger following. And the given the time you where talking about this I would say the robots you where talking about are probably Cybermen. One of the many nemeses that have been around for most of the shows run.
The thing is, Im not a fan boy of NBC (is anyone) or Dr Who. I just utilize the Wiki. I digested a large chunk of it about Dr Who in the time it took me to acquire the 30 some odd episodes of Dr Who and NBC thing took me like less then 30 minutes to figure out when I saw them sharing so many programs of a Sci Fi Nature with NBC... Guys, the Wiki is your friend...

Yes that was a real post and as for your second question it is irrelevant to anything so I wont answer. I know by default this will cause you to believe the answer is "No" which may or may not be true. Im not necessarily upset with anyone here, but I do feel the fact they where kind of stumped on the whole NBC/SciFi thing before that someone should of researched it.

yeah they worked for TV...Tech TV. Its not like they'd know this stuff like the back of their hand. I doubt they would even want the research this.

A little reverse psychology eh?

I admit I was surprised when Alex and Kevin were puzzled by the relationship between NBC and Sci-Fi. I mean at the very least, it's the basics of syndication, regardless of who owns what.

someone should of researched it.
They do the show drunk most of the time, a lot of times they don't even read their stories before they report them. The whole thing is by the seat of their pants
Its entertainment, not hard hitting journalism

idk me and a friend of mine where both kind of stunned by the first time this came up. But where found it funny they still didn't know it the second or third time heh. And plz make fun of me as much as you want if it will help you feel better :P I guess part of it is the fact I feel at least in the knowledge side of it all I could do a much better job its just I don't have the a way to get it out. Nah its not even that. Im not sure why it irked me but it did. And yeah I forgot Universal HD but thats just cause it use to be Bravo HD and since I don't have a HD TV I guess I just assumed it was still Bravo programing in HD.
Also Sleuth and the name of the Spanish Channel I didn't know off the top of my head I was pretty sure it was Telemundo but I did check it back on the Wiki and I did not know about Sleuth at all as I dropped Digital Cable after the bastardarazation of G4/Tech TV. Here is hoping that E! can bring it back to its former glory. Wait what am I saying its E!...
/me looks at funds to start own TV Network... /me sees a jar full of dirt...
Damn...

Not really sure how prevelent it is. I mean, they can barely keep focused on one story without being side-tracked three or four times!
Like wastern said, it's entertainment. I'm sure if Brokaw down a few forties he'd forget a few things as well... come to think of it, that'd probably be pretty entertaining as well :P
