So a lot of threads have been popping up about comics in general. So I thought I would try to create a one stop shop for everything comics. If you're new and have questions or not sure what to read, say what you're into and we'll guess what to say. If you really digg the graphic novel or series or have a friend (or self) writing and want to shout it out. If you read something and can't recall what it was and need some help. If you want to trade books or have one you're willing to send to a fellow TRS fan post it. My only request is keep it as spoiler free as possible. If anyone else has something let it be known. :D
I wanted to create this thread so that hopefully not so many random ones will be created when we can just look for one and try to keep it updated often kind of like the iFanboys page. Also, check out their podcast, forums, and website I'm just getting back into comics and those are some of my resource. Hope this thread becomes helpful to everyone, I'll subscribe to it and contribute as much as I can.
I've just recently started reading comics and now I'm addicted. It just might replace books as my favorite entertainment medium. It really takes the best parts of books and the best parts of movies and brings them together.
So far I've read/am reading Black Hole, Blankets, 300, Buffy Season Eight, Fray, Tales of the Slayers & Tales of the Vampires, Runaways, Firefly Better Days & Those Left Behind, The Surrogates, Watchmen, Wanted, Astonishing X-Men, The Dark Knight Returns.
If you're just getting started like me, I really really really recommend ALL of these. I just devoured them and I haven't hated any of them. There's definitely strong and weak points in each but they were all definitely worth reading.

Astonishing X-Men was one of my favorite series. I'm hoping they keep it up. I'll check out Better Days when it's collected or if all 3 are at my local store. I'm waiting for more trades of Season 8 of Buffy to catch up.
I recommend Batman: Year One for you. I just read it and really enjoyed it. Starting there then going into Long Halloween, DK Returns, and a few others kind of tied together.

The latest Astonishing came out a few weeks ago [June 2nd to be exact] -- and so yes they are 'keeping it up'. But not really, because Astonishing X-Men #25 was one pour excuse for a comic book, if that. Now don't misunderstand me one bit; I adore the 1st four trades written by Joss Whedon, an epic that is the precursor to this piece of Marvel trash. And yes I bought this 1st book and I might buy the 2nd (probably not) but I am addicted. Purely addicted to the X-Men and like crack cocaine it sucks to be addicted to the X-men.
This latest story arc by Warren Ellis and Simone Bianchi has been brought into continuity; or in with the rest of the rest of the Marvel Universe (or so they say). And I am reading Uncanny -- Uncanny X-Men #500 came out this past "new comic book day" [check out this past week's audio podcast from iFanboy.com] and I did enjoy that...

I'm a huge X-fan, got back into reading a bunch last year, and listened to Uncanny X-Cast to catch up on what's been going on these last 40 years :)
Astonishing X-men was pretty awesome with Whedon, now with 25, it was okay as a first setup issue but Uncanny 500 was pretty retarded and broke continuity of what was set up in Astonishing 25 and X-force 5...and pretty much everything Magneto has been up to the last 2 years.
Anyway, for anyone looking for recommendations of comics to read. Start reading x-books with the House of M crossover (from 2005) which was a huge event. Everything after that and its lead up to the amazing Messiah Complex is all rad (Messiah complex is hte best X-crossover in my opinion). Then AFTER that with X-men series turning into X-men Legacy (following only Prof X and now with Gambit!) and then Astonishing and Uncanny becoming the dual main titles, and the creation of the Cable Series and X-force series out of Messiah Complex is all pretty awesome.
X-force, those 5 issues are some of the best comics ever made. The Art, the story, everything! Definately check that out
My only worry is that astonishing has no purpose now with Uncanny having the whole team...why does astonishing exist with only a few members of that team but is based in the same time and place (in San Fran's new home X-base)? It doesn't make any sense. Whedon's run on astonishing made sense because it was entirely based in a week of time right before Messiah Complex (even though it took over 4 years to get all the issues out, hehe). They need to make two teams, one for Uncanny, one for astonishing...or get rid of Astonishing entirely and have it all in Uncanny. I can't stand this out of continuity mismatch nonsense...but we'll see what happens with the new status quo next month before I go nuts :)

Hey dude, I'm glad you're reading these as well...someone to talk about this with! :)
I think Uncanny 500 and Astonshing 25 are just setup issues, both have new artists and writers and they just set the new status quo being in San Fran with the base and reforming the squads. However, both are hugely problematic.
Astonishing 25 came out first but its based after 500. Storm is re-intro'd back into the Astonishing team as she begged to be an x-man again (this is weak writing, i know the writers love the character but she should be with black panther in Wakanda...what a terrible queen eh). BUT...somehow she's in uncanny 500 with like every other x-man...but she's not back with the x-men till after that... so thats a huge continuity screw up.
then we have Angel who's completely normal in uncanny 500...but this is taking place after X-force where in issue 5 (the most recent) he has become archangel again...i guess this means he gets out of that dilemma easy in issue 6 next month :(
I dunno about you but my cover for 500 as Gambit and Rogue on the front...but neither are in the issue at all...not even referenced...I don't get what Gambit was up to with the Marauders...they didn't full explain what happened to those characters after Sinister died and the baby was used to revive Rogue. Rogue just kinda disappeared for some reason even though she's back to normal..she should be back with Uncanny now. As for Gambit, I'm glad he showed up in Legacy to be Prof X's wingman...now with what happened in legacy 213, with sinister returning...They're advertising that Cyclops is gonna be fighting him in 214...I imagine that's when the new Uncanny team (which is everyone) battles him and maybe Sinister reforms the marauders...The big question for me is what's gonna happen to Gambit...is he gonna stick with Sinister or re-join the x-men?

At the suggestion of TRS viewers, I began my foray into comics with Y: The Last Man. The first issue is available online for free here (http://www.dccomics.com/graphic_novels/?gn=1736).
After Y: The Last Man, I purchased Watchmen and LOVED it.
Then I wanted to get into regular comic books, so I decided to start with the Civil War crossover and try to work my way through that to the Secret Invasion crossover. I got about 50 issues into Civil War and got sidetracked reading back issues of Runaways and Young Avengers. Once I caught up with those I was tired of reading all the random little tie-ins for Civil War, so I just finished it off with the main issues.
I also read the Serenity comics and loved those too. I think next I'm going to read the Astonishing X-Men comics started by Joss Whedon. Once I get a little farther through Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I'll get the comics for that too.
Also, what do the comic words mean? Like what's a trade? And are all comics eventually made into collections? How does that work?

In order to begin reading Astonishing X-Men, is it necessary to fully read Grant Morrison's run on New X-Men?
Also, same thing for the current issues of Justice Society America. Do I need to first purchase and read Kingdom Come before I can understand and keep up with JSA?

Another great comic that I am reading right now. It came out in 2004 and has several trade paperbacks. Comes from Image Comics and they have a digital version of the first comic for most of their comics at their site. imagecomics.com
Wanted - awesome and totally different than the movie in many respects
Dark Knight, Dark Knight Returns, Death in the Family - Batman
The Walking Dead - Zombie comic very well made
Invincible - same writer as Walking Dead - teenage super hero
Ultimates - Marvel Series
Civil War - another great marvel series
Not a big Alan Moore fan other than the Killing Joke. Watchmen is very good but I don't get why everyone thinks it is the best comic ever.
Comic Con was great saw the fellas and got my comic book on.

Oh comics.
This thread is a great idea Aerodash.
As far as my reading habits, I read TONS of stuff...I like the stuff going on in spidey right now, the almost weekly format works really well.
I just finished the first two trades of Y: The last man, and it kicks major butt.
I also love The Walking Dead (I'm reading it in trades)
I'm excited about the upcoming new Deadpool series, I hope its good, because Cable/Deadpool was one of the most underrated comics out there.
Theres lots more I read, so I'm sure I'll be back. Comics are just so darn good these days!

The four staple Batman GN's [year one, long halloween, killing joke, DK returns] are my favorites [been obsessed with him since I was like 5]. I do love watchmen though. Need to diversify my reading though, since I've pretty much stuck to batman til I saw the Watchmen trailer.

I'm a lot like Dan with comics in that I really don't care for superhero comics. That being said I do like Watchmen, anything Batman, and The Spirit. The comics I enjoy are mostly noir stories and indies like Demo, Scott Pilgrim, anything Will Eisner, etc.
Speaking of that I will admit I'm a Frank Miller nut. Love 300, but to me Sin City is one of the greatest series around. To me it's a love letter to film noir and black & white art. Just the use of black & white in those books is mindblowing. That and it has the narrative dialogue that would remind a lot of people of Max Payne that just has this poetic edge to it. I just love Sin City.
Anyone know of any other noir-ish comics out there?

Like DannyTRS I'm not a big cape and cowl guy (I like a few though), and my reading list reflects that. I'd appreciate any other comics, authors, or artists you may think I may like.
Stuff I like:
- Queen and Country, Greg Rucka
- Whiteout, Greg Rucka (Soon to be a movie with Alex's babe Kate Beckinsale)
- Hellboy, Mike Mignola
- From Hell, Alan Moore
- Bone, Jeff Smith (One of my all time favorites)
-
In the Que:
- Scott Pilgrim, Bryan Lee O'Malley
- Watchmen, Alan Moore (Because of the movie and TRS)
- Fell, Warren Ellis

So today I picked up the two JSA trades which I am very eager to read. At my LCS though, I got into talking with the guy that works there and we got onto discussion of Batman where I revealed that I have read Batman: Hush. He asked how I liked it compared to the Long Halloween. Well, I let him know I have yet to read the Long Halloween. What happened next, in a nutshell, I was heavily scolded for reading Hush before Long Halloween. All in good spirits though :D But he made me feel bad because I felt like I disappointed him lol.
So, this leads me to my next question, What is the basic logical progression for reading the Batman books? For example, I picked up Batman Face the Face awhile back and just started reading it and noticed Batman has left Gotham City for some months. Is this a whole new trade or is his absence due to Infinity Crises (or whichever one it was - i don't keep up with them)? I don't want to let anymore people down because I read some books out of order :( .

I'm just getting back into comics and have been picking up on "comic" terms as by listening to iFanboy and reading forums. So here's my break down of terms I learned.
Trade I use for short of Trade Paper Back or TPB (seen those abbreviation a lot)
Continuity is basically do things match up from past history, lore, etc.
Retconned (sp?) is I believe when someone kind of retools aspects of a character such as abilities, history, origins (typically but could be wrong)
And I think those were the big ones I saw pop up often and didn't know myself.
As to your other questions, I think a lot of story arcs get made into TPB. I know like the Ultimates universe are pretty up to date with trades. I can't really say, but big events or stories seem to generally be collected into one form. I've been doing a lot of weekly trades, but it's getting a little expensive so might cut back and just buy trades if I really want something.

If I didn't know a lot of those Batman Books were actually somewhat linked together I would've probably bought them out of order. I think the best quote or what not is sometimes its not the destination but the journey there that makes all the worthwhile. So I mean I'd just read them however you do, and I wouldn't really care what other comic readers think.
There's a lot of books I haven't read and really enjoyed. Such as with my new series to follow being Green Lantern. I started by getting Secret Origins which is the current run. Then I bought Rebirth which I knew very little about prior then followed by Sinestro Corps. Man has it been great reading though. I hope Geoff Johns continues to write this line. My point being that I just dove in any order really and enjoyed every bit. If someone is getting bent out of shape about the order you read in... well... yeah that's my opinion and I may not be too hardcore on some things and I like it that way.

More on Aerodash's point about comic terms:
Comics refer to the medium as a whole. Anything is a comic, whether it is an issue (a "floppy" that is usually 20 some pages) or a trade (as aerodash explained, several issues collected)
These days most comics are being collected in trades after their initial issues are out. Think of it as a movie would be in theaters for a while, and some time down the road the DVD comes out. The first 6 issues of comic X come out as single issues, and 3 months down the road, the collected trade of thoes issues comes out.
Retcon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retcon) is short for retroactive continuity and its confusing and pretty nerdy, so dont' worry about it. ;)

Well it is not so much that I care what other readers think of me, because I couldn't really care less. The thing is that I want the full experience out of the comics and don't want to suddenly run into some kind of a wall when I'm reading.

In the Que:
- Scott Pilgrim, Bryan Lee O'Malley
- Watchmen, Alan Moore (Because of the movie and TRS)
- Fell, Warren EllisFell, specifically the collection of the first 8 issues, is one of the most remarkable things I've read. While each issue is its own story, that trade really is one singular body of work that is great all the way through. If only Ellis would give us some more...
Now, as an obsessed Grendel fan, I would have to recommend that series. The unmatched epic scope, the often jarring and inventive narrative techniques, wide range of great artists (and writers, to a lesser extent) is nothing short of breathtaking.. And the Batman/Grendel crossover was just released as a trade. I don't know how well it holds up to a Batman fan, but I loved both stories. A nice hardcover of the first Grendel story, Devil by the Deed, can be found at comic stores an online easily I think. It's only 12.95 (Two other similarly priced hardcovers came out earlier in the year, Devil Child and Devil Quest, which were both great but Devil Quest might be really confusing for someone who doesn't know much about the over all story...)
Unfortunately, anything else I would feel compelled to recommend would just be reiterating what most others have said. 100 Bullets, DMZ, Walking Dead, Hellblazer... wait, why hasn't anyone mentioned Planetary yet?!
Warren Ellis can be SO frustrating sometimes...
EDIT: Does anyone order comic boxes or bags/boards and other things online? The only place I've eve ordered those from is bagsunlimited.com, but it seemed pricey. I don't know if it IS, as I don't know anywhere else.

I'm just getting into comics and I own the first three trades of Y: The Last Man, three trades of Preacher, two trades of Fables plus 1001 Nights of Snowfall, Wanted, Surrogates, the first Scott Pilgrim, one trade of The Boys, and Arkham Asylum. Thanks to my library I've finished Y: The Last Man, read Watchmen and everything Batman that I can get my hands on. I loved the old X-Men cartoon when I was a kid, but I'm someone who's very concerned with continuity so I haven't read anything recent, but my library has the X-men Essentials and I'm just about done with the third one which is up through Uncanny #161.

Stan Lee once said, "Every comic book is someone's 1st comic book"
with that said... Astonishing is to be read on it's own; as one piece, four parts, four trades. There is no tie whatsoever to Grant Morrison's story arc. Astonishing is actually not "in continuity" before issue #24. Ellis takes over at 24...(read the post above i sorta comment on that :))

I can't believe how much I'm enjoying Scott Pilgrim. I've blown through 1 & 2 and need to get a fix here soon. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm impressed by the pacing and humor.
I'm going to look into:
- Box Office Poison, Alex Robinson
- Love and Rockets, Gilbert Hernandez (But which one?)
Now I have time for Warren Ellis's Fell. Need to change it up a bit with some noir.

I didn't know it was going to become a movie. I read Greg Ruka's Whiteout because it's coming out real soon with Kate "I'm with Alex, she's such a babe" Bekinsale. Ruka's other work Queen and Country is one of my favorite works, - waiting for volume 3. And like Scott Pilgrim from Oni Press, which is slowly becoming one of my favorite publishers.

The Walking Dead started out as one of my all time favorite comics ever in the first few trades, but the farther I get the more I don't know. I still think that it is technically good, in the writing and the art and the pacing. It is just taking such a dark tone its hard to like and identify with the Characters I liked in the beginning. The good thing I suppose, is that I can tell that this is intentional. It just doesn't make me as "happy" to read it anymore.

Walking Dead is on the verge of a big shift with so many of the characters we followed being gone and once again being outside of the prisons relative safety. I'm not worried about the book, but I'm curious what direction Kirkman is going to take it in. After these past 50 issues, I'm pretty confident I'll enjoy whatever direction he decides to go.

Thanks for this thread and all the great Rec's. At 30 I just read my 1st comic ever. Heard Alex, Dan, Jeff talk about The Killing Joke on one of their shows so I picked it up this past weekend. 1st started reading it in the store and was like HolySh1t this is a great book. So I bought it. I also bought Watchmen and I'll read that soon but wanted to try a few smaller ones first. Also bought Astonishing X-Men Vol.1, which I am loving, and Fables Vol.1, I love alternate versions of classic stories. So I'm really looking forward to this new era in my life and hope to expose all of the goodness to my son. He's a little young for some of the books, but as I always do I'll review everything 1st. Thanks again everyone, keep it up!!!

So is anyone else reading both Final Crisis and Secret Invasion? I don't want to give spoilers away, but I'm really disliking the whole SI event. The main title seems to cover less and I have to buy a ton of others to figure out everything else. Final Crisis makes me glad that DC doesn't have 50 million tie ins. I'm just hoping Secret Invasion has something grand that makes me feel glad to have follow it.

i'm really enjoying SI, the only tie ins i'm reading are Mighty Avengers and New Avengers(but i read those two titles anyway). You definitely get a lot more out of the event with those two titles.
I'm also reading FC and enjoying it but i dont know what your referring to with no crossovers with FC. Other than the 7 FC issues, there are at least 22 other issues that are either one shots or new mini series for FC.

Really? Wow, as far as I had seen there was the Final Crisis Director's Cut. I guess I'm mistaken on that part. It just seems like Marvel and events try to tie every book into their main event even if that might include talking about it.

yea they dont start till this month but there are 4 mini series coming out and a few one shots.
yea i agree, i think both companies put out to many tie ins and sometimes they dont really progress the story at all, but because the event has a banner on the book a lot of people buy them.
I am reading SI and honestly i am getting tired of all the tie ins. It feels like every comic i read has something to do with it. I collect different tittles to get different stories not a rehash of what i just read in a different comic.

there are companies, like Library Binding, that will take your issues and put them into a hardcover volume. you can choose whatever issues you want and whatever order you want, and make your own custom hardcover.

i'll second those two, i'm behind on Ex Machina, only on the 4th trade but the first 3 were great and i have been enjoying DMZ since it started, i have not yet tried any other Brian Wood work but i heard Supermarket is good.
Pride of Baghdad is an AMAZING story by Vaughan, its an original graphic novel about a family of lions who escape a zoo after the attack by the Americans.
Vaughan also wrote a 5 issue Dr Strange story called The Oath, I thought it was OK, nothing special. But I'm not a huge Dr Strange fan so you will probably get more out of it if your a fan.

This may have been brought up here (I only skimmed the last 4 or 5 pages) but a really great book is Nightwing from DC comics. Since they moved him much further away from Gotham to New York City he's really coming into his own. I've loved this character ever since they took him out of the red yellow and green tights and gave him the much cooler name. Recently he's clawed his way up in popularity among DC's top lister's and I attribute that to the smart idea's of 'Chuck Dixon' to move him out of Gotham and make him more of a solo character back in 1996 when his solos series first got off the ground.
Nightwing is not as some have claimed, "Batman light" he was trained by the Batman and still holds to the general credo, but Grayson relies more on his wits and talents as both a great detective and acrobat than his gadgets and money. Plus when Batman comes in its much more attitude and dark gritty muscle kind of attack, Nightwing is more fluid shadows and use of brains over brawn. He's not as much 'in your face' as Bat's but still just as effective at getting the job done.
Yes there are similarities, both Richard and Bruce had their parents killed in front of them by criminals, both chose to fight crime in a vigilante style, and both have detective and martial arts skills they use to do said crime fighting. But while Bruce seems stuck on his parents death still today as his motivation for everything he does, the much younger Richard has matured past that to doing the crime fighting because he's one of the few with the skills and abilities that could. He does it for much the same reasons that Spiderman does, 'with great power comes... ' Like I said a well rounded character that has grown up with a lot of us fans and has matured into his own right.
Well that's my take on it anyway. I hope you'll all give it a chance if you're not already a hooked "Wingnut" like me.

Does anyone have any recommendations on "Vs." crossover books? Meaning a comic series such as "Ultimate Wolverine Vs. Hulk". I never read a series of this sort except for the unfinished Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk, but the genre does sound intriguing and I am interested in what else is out there. I do not happen to be a fan of Alien vs. Predator stuff as I have read bits and pieces from friends' books before but if anyone has a particular book which they really found fun to read, go right ahead and recommend it. I just finished reading the 3 of the 5 volumes of the anthology series Flight (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_(comics)), and I was blown away.
It's basically a collection of unrelated short indy comics by talented young artists. Most are stand-alone short stories, but there are a few that episodic, so you should probably read the volumes in order (instead of backward like me).
They aren't thematically linked, really; they are just really good. Most of them, at least. There are several comics in each volume that didn't do anything for me, but overall, the books are very solid, especially volume 3.
I recommend it to everybody. You probably won't be disappointed. Check for them at your local library.

There isn't really a set bunch of series like the Ultimate Wolvie Vs Hulk series. It's just a given that every chance they want to drum up sales, you'll see superheroes fighting each other. Sadly all you really can do is go back and pick up say a certain issue.
One of the best fight's I recommend though, is in The Dark Knight Returns. It has one of the best Superman Vs. Batman fights you'll find anywhere.

Marvel's Infinity Saga from the early 90's. my favorite comic series ever - it doesn't get bigger than the infinity war.
i learned something interesting though - despite the fact that some of the dudes in the marvel universe are able to obtain "infinite power," there's always something that has more power. They refer to it as the "One Above All" who, after some searching, is probably Stan Lee himself. This makes sense, and it shows how Stan Lee views the little universe he's created. It's like a little ant farm. Sure, one can gain power over all the others, but eventually it's Stan's call as to whether they get to keep it. awesome.

I recently started getting into comics again, I started with Coward which they did a review of on the show, and I loved it.
I'm currently reading the Watchman Novel, yes watching the Watchman trailer on IMAX might have something to do with it :D
I'm quite enjoying the Watchman comic though, and it is very big for a comic book.

I just stumbled upon Global Frequency (http://www.amazon.com/Global-Frequency-Vol-Planet-Ablaze/dp/1401202748/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221598745&sr=1-1), I had seen the failed pilot and really enjoyed it, definitely picking both volumes up now.
Also thanks, lik, I remember Scud, but didn't know the whole thing was out. Picking that up too!

Haven't posted here in awhile. So I've been digging the return of Venom in the Spider-Man comics. Probably more Ultimate since it seems to be an extension of the video game story which I loved.
I've got my two library editions of Hellboy I'm trying to get through and so far enjoy the first one. I really appreciate the movie because I think they really expand on some things like the relationship between Hellboy and the Dr being like a father/son relationship.

Thought I'd post here to bring this to the front page.
Recently finished off Secret Invasion and Final Crisis. Slightly disappointed by both and more confused by Final Crisis then anything.
Just picked up Watchmen and going to finish that up before the movie comes out in March.

Out of the last 10 or so books I've read. Chris Ware's Acme Novelty Library #19 stands by far and away the best. Though I really liked Local by Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly.

What's it about? Always looking for things I've never heard of to check out.

I've never read a comic before. My friend, who's not comic reader either, think he used to be though... has recommended I read Watchmen before we go to see it. So I'm a few pages in and really liking it so far.
A question though, do people usually listen to music while reading comics? I don't get an urge to read a book with music on, but I'm thinking I might want to listen to something with this. Anyone else do this? Any music recommendations for Watchmen?

I really wanted to know what all the hype about Watchmen was about so I just picked it up. I'm into ch. 2 now and enjoying it so far. Not sure if people who are excited for it and never read it know what they're getting into. It's some crazy stuff.
For some reason, when I read a book or comic book I don't care to listen to music. I feel like it's very distracting. I get sucked into lyrics or the rest of a song if I know it. I could maybe do it with instrumental, but I just normally read without music. I actually seem to enjoy it, because my focus is on the art, story and dialogue.

Haha you think its crazy it ch. 2? Finish reading it and see what you think of it. And then begin to let the worry for the film set in, after you realize how "different" Watchmen is.
Just checked out Black Hole. Definitely the most diverse comic I've ever read. Amazingly done. I would check it out if you, like me, want a little escape from all the capes and cowls.

I'm definitely seeing that. It's also taking me a lot longer then any other trade I've read to get through it all. Partially due to time to read and the novel excerpts take some extra time. I'm enjoying it and just really unsure how the movie will be. I've heard nothing but great things of it, but I still have hesitations. Can't wait for March 6th though.
Also due to my love of Edgar Wright work and the good things I've heard about Scott Pilgrim I think I'll be picking up the first volume on my way home. I'm really looking forward to it also to be a good break from Watchmen which is great, but also on the very dark side so need a little upper now.

Here in Sweden, comics is not a big thing like it is in the US. Which is why I was so surprised to see someone reading Scoot Pilgrim on the subway the other day. And it was a girl! Suffice to say, she had a big smile on her lips the entire time she was reading.

So, just read Scott Pilgrim Vol. 5. Best in the series so far, so different but the same wonderful humor. I just can't believe its going to be another YEAR for Vol. 6 and the story to come to an end. I just can't stand it.
Besides, Scott Pilgrim, as of late I have been reading the Ultimate Spider-Man trades. Love how its the same old Spidey we all know, but just with a modern twist. Highly recommended for fans who want to get into the character but don't know where to start.

Sounds good on SP. I just bought Vol. 1 today and waiting to finish Watchmen before Scott Pilgrim. I'm kind of glad it has a set end and doesn't drag on. As much as I'd miss something I'd rather miss it on a good note then it be a dead horse like the Simpsons can be.
Also, I second Ultimate Spider-Man. I'm buying the issues and really like it. I'm a little sad the Ultimate Universe is semi-ending and getting merged into one book or something. I really think the Ultimate U. could have continued it was a great place for new readers to get in. Plus, I didn't come out as often as Amazing which it's easier to catch up on like I'm having trouble w/ Amazing. Highly recommend it for Spidey fans. Also, check out the game it's my favorite Super Hero game and maybe one of my all time favorites.

Picked up the first to trades of The Sandman. Having read the first, Preludes & Nocturnes, I find it a really intriguing story but I don't "get it" yet. What is all the fan love for this series all about?

Picked up Pride of Baghdad, was really well drawn and the story was interesting. The ending was sad though.
Also picked up the first trade of Y: the last man, was great - cant wait to get the second.

I have not gotten around to it. I've been meaning to get around to his runs on Daredevil, Green Arrow and Spider-Man/Black Cat one of these days as well.
