Is anyone going to Otakon this year? I usually go for a day every other year or every two years, as I'm not into anime much at all anymore. I work a few blocks from the convention center, and I didn't go last year, so I'll check it out probably Saturday after I leave work, for the people watching. It's next weekend, oh and if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Otakon is a fan convention in the United States focusing on East Asian popular culture (primarily anime, manga, music, and cinema) and its fandom. The name is a portmanteau derived from convention and the Japanese word otaku. Otakon is traditionally held on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in late summer at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland's Inner Harbor district. It is considered the second largest and one of the longest-running Anime conventions in the United States.

I guess now would be a good time to ask what's new(last year or two) in anime that's good? I prefer subs over dubs, and no comedies.

There are a lot of other anime conventions out there besides Otakon...
Check http://www.animecons.com/ for ones near you.

Uhh, I know there are more conventions than Otakon, but Otakon happens to be going on this weekend.

I love the costumes that people wear for Otakon, makes Baltimore an even more colorful city for a weekend. I've never actually been to the con, my schedule never seems to match up with the con dates. I might try to go up there this time.
