I was told to come here for help . I just bought my first hdtv lcd tv . I looked threw the manual and cant find away to brighten the picture . I turned the brightness and contrast way up and it's still dark especially at night . Did i get a bad tv ? It's a samsung LN22A330 22” high-definition LCD TV

Based on your info, I went to Samsung and got these tips (which may or may not be relevant):

What resolution is your screen set on? LN tvs want 720p 1080p or 1080i

Apart from the brightness and contrast options, there is a "mode" option that gives you an overall set of defaults. Set that first, then go to the specifics.

What are the background and lighting conditions of the room. They will affect the apparent brightness of the picture.

The only other thing is, don't try to set it during The O'Reilly Factor. Brightness is disabled during that whole hour.

just about all new lcd hd tv defaults have good brightness and contrast set right out of the box encluding the viewing angle factor. so if you believe were the lcd tv is placed does not have a good picture just as if it were a tube tv, it is a lemon.
