Those elusive bags of crap. It's like a rare Malaysian monkey or something. Lol.

Nothing usually strikes my fancy much. I got some bluetooth headsets that worked out pretty nicely. It all depends on how frivolously you are able to spend money.

This woot off so far, Got me a Seagate 750GB SATA Hdd for $85. it's recertified, I never buy anything from woot that's refurbed though.

as for the boc, they've generally been doing it around 3-5pm central time on the second day of the woot off.

as for what I've gotten from woot previously...
6/20/2008 - Random Crap
8/30/2007 - Random Crap
7/27/2007 - Everglide S-500 Headphones
5/9/2007 - Acer 22” Widescreen LCD Monitor
2/1/2007 - US Robotics 5461 Wireless Router
12/25/2006 - Random Crap.

I still have and use everything, except the wireless router. It died on me a few months after getting it, and I've never bought refurb from woot since.

I tend to be a bit of a compulsive shopper, so Woot is dangerous for me. I once bought a pair wireless adapters that I didn't even really need just because they were around $12 for both. I also picked up a 4 GB Sansa for $50 (and the adapters did eventually come in handy) so I guess it all worked out.

...what exactly is this mysterious wootoff?

obviously you know the woot deal of one deal one day... well a woot off is they put an item up and once it is sold out or 24 hours has past (never seen that during a woot off) they put up the next item. This usually lasts for around 3 days.

During the woot off, they do the bag of crap, usually labeled "Random Crap". This is an item that is sold for $1, and you have no idea what you are going to get. It could be anything from a cheap dollar store kids toy to a 60 inch HDTV (people have reported getting them). So, everyone tries to get the boc, and make sure to buy 3. $8 ($3 + $5 for shipping) and you could end up with a big screen tv, wii, ps3, mp3 player, etc. More than likely you won't end up with great items, but generally they are worth more than a $1.

I've been following the Woot off with the wootalzyer program. Haven't really bought anything from Woot in a looong time because there's nothing I really want. That, and I used to buy a lot of things that I have no use for, haha. Last thing I bought was a monkey from a woot off. Never got any BoC sadly. :( I thought I got in on Christmas but my page never loaded! I was real bummed too. It's like Santa was taunting me!

I've been watching this wootoff on and off since last night and there hasn't been one thing I wanted. I might've got the Sansa 4gb since I need something to listen to on the treadmill but I was asleep.

bag of crap! bag of crap! bag of crap!

Aw what meanies. It's really like a 5 second window you have to get a BoC.

I'm using wootalayzer as well. It's much easier than f5'ing the woot page. Haha.

I use shirt.woot but all the shirts have been rather disappointing lately. The only shirts I want are the old reprints and they are $15 not $10 :( Not that that $5 really makes THAT much of a difference.

im very tempted by the 4 gb usb and sd card in the side deal

So how often do wootoffs happen and/or how do you find out about them? Is it similar to derbies where theres a schedule or is it just every so often?

Usually every three months or so. There's no solid schedule that I know of, but apparently people get tips that it'll be coming ahead of time (through newsletters I guess). I find out because I use the program wootalyzer. It keeps tabs with online stores and alerts you of new deals for these one-a-day sites and on wootoffs, it'll sound an alarm and flash to let you know it's happening.

I remember looking forward to Woot-offs. That was when I had money. Now I just don't bother looking. Sigh.

I just emptied out my bank account, so no Woot Off for me this time... but the last two Woot Offs I bought a few things, and missed out on the Bag Of Crap both times. One of these times I will get it.

I bought a refurb ipod touch from woot a while back. Haven't had a problem with it. I even got apple to reset the date of purchase for me so I was able to get applecare on it too. At the time I got a 16gb refurb for the price apple was selling the 8gb new.

I have no hesitation at buying refurbished products as long as there is a substantial discount.
