Hey Patrick and Veronica! I recently had a surge along my phone line that blew my dsl modem and a couple of phones in my house. I was wondering if you could do a segment on phone ling surge suppression and weather or not it interferes with dsl service. And what brands or surge suppressors would you recommend. Thanks.

I think I know the problem. In 1953, a brilliant scientist named Uncle Oscar invented a machine that could send people through telephone lines to anywhere in the world. The act of doing so created a surge like the one you describe. A group of ruthless criminals seized Uncle Oscar and forced him to use the machine for evil. While Superman was able to save Unce Oscar and foil the plot, the whereabouts of the machine have remained unknown--apparently until someone recently tried to use it to gain access to you home.
I'm sorry to hear about your modem, but it could have been much worse. These are bad . . . bad people!

Oh crap! I'll bet thats what keeps happening to my car keys. These evil doers are faxing themselves into my home moving stuff around and then faxing themselves out again.

the problem is if the line was hit by lighting, then there is pretty much nothing could stop that.

Maybe Pat could do a project using varistors to build a phoneline surge suppression box. He could use his soldering skills and the project might not even take up a whole systm episode.
