I'm not really sure about this (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=286547363&mt=8)
Isn't there some kind of copyright against this?

It probably is against copyright, but it is very useful. I wish there was one for the whole network.

It is if they're making money off this.

They aren't. The app is available for free.

It could still be infringing on a copyright even if they aren't making any money off of it.

Hey guys. I am James from JDub Studios. I am the one who made the app. Since the RSS is free, there is no copyright issue there. Copyright issues might arise from the images, but I do not think they would get mad, I am making NO money what-so-ever off this. I just love the show and wanted to make it more available. I originally made the app for me personally, but decided to give it away to others becuase it turned out to be a great resource.

There's actually a copyright issue. It's for the usage of the name.
Here's a link to a pdf about another person who received a cease and desist from digg for a website they had up.
http://digg.picurls.com/digpicz.pdf
I'm sure they understand that youre just trying to assist in spreading the word about digg, and diggnation, but since those names are copyrighted, they don't want confusion with people thinking you're associated with them, or something.
The service is really cool, but it could also be skewing the viewer count for the actual diggnation episodes, and they use that for advertising stats and such.

u know, if revision3 would post a answere i would stop using this free app in a heart beat, but since they dont seem to be concerned right now im just goina keep going with the most convenient way of watching my shows, if they come out with a diggnation iphone app i would be happy to install it, its just got to be better than the one i already got :P

Hey, if anyone at Rev3 wants me to take it down, I will do so in a heartbeat. They can get all the contact info from our website. But for now, I do NOT see a problem, and I am just providing a service, FOR FREE, that you can already access for free. If anything, I added more viewers, not taken them away.

I do NOT see a problemI am glad you are not MY lawyer ...

Anyone see a problem here?

If I were you, I'd adjust it so it is just an RSS reader that comes with the Diggnation RSS feed. They really can't argue that, as that is why the RSS feed is there.

Why is there a problem with this? I don't understand - it links to the files as hosted on Revision3's servers. It's no different from someone posting a link to the latest Diggnation episode.

Use of the content is fine ... provided the folks at Rev3 can count numbers there's no issue.
The problem is use of the Digg name, logos, typeface, yada yada yada. Rev3 need to protect their TRADEMARKS and TRADENAMES and TRADEDRESS (look and feel).
THAT is what is wrong with the app, not the RSS feed reader.

ideally they're probably developing something like this on their own. ..
I hope.

There's already an app for watching Revision3 shows on your iPhone and iPod touch. It's called iTunes.

iTunes is for syncing Diggnation to the iPhone or iPod Touch. What they are talking about is an easy way to watch Diggnation on the go, when you haven't already downloaded it yet.

Once again, Safari. You can even bookmark the RSS feed.

How could I forgot all those times I've brought up diggnation in my browser and watched it on my phone.
Those are none. Because I usuallllly download it from itunes or watch it on my computer, but if they were developing an app so you could just bring it up automatically it would be sweet.

I've used the Rev3 mobile version on occasion, and it's been alright...in WiFi. In Edge, or 3G, the connection for most larger Quicktime files (Read: Diggnation) crap out. Epic Fu works fine, but really, when I'm on the go and I need my Diggnation fix, an app like this is pretty sweet.

Look I said easy to do. I know you can just go to revision3.com in Safari, I know that. It's like going to digg.com/iphone on your iPhone it's just easier to go to that than digg.com on the iPhone.
