Dearest Veronica. Whilst your dissertation on the strict categorical taxonomy of the term is fundamentally correct, one feels compelled to suggest . . . gently . . . that the chasm separating what is allowable from what is acceptable is no less great than that between the bestial temperament of the male and the genteel bearing appropriate to his distaff counterpart. Was it not the famous editor of Godey's Ladies Book, Sarah Josepha Hale who once wrote "Is it disparagement to the rose that it differs from the acorn? Would the peach choose to be identical with the potato?" My advice is that you take to heart the opprobrium of the good and godly Mr. Bendoon. Allow your able and able-bodied counterpart, the somewhat more anthropoidal Mr. Norton to espouse the sailor's point of view and remain, yourself, the chaste and humble peach.

I could care less if Veronica curses or not, but if there are more people like THIS guy, then maybe you shouldn't do it... as much? ;)

It has nothing to do with church. Expletives do not convey any real descriptive value to me. There are times when in extreme disgust or pain one could push forth an expletive. But to use the dirty words as a rule instead of the exception in average conversation shows the speaker is too lazy to think about what they are saying before they speak. I have heard teenagers bleet out so much four letter vernacular, that you can see why no one understands them or wants to. Just like crying babies, it is just a lot of noise. I wish someone would introduce the kids to a dictionary and or a thesaurus. Maybe the young ones could get their point across and be less frustrated.

A brain is a terrible thing to waste.

You people are kidding, right? It's one thing to have someone complain because of their puritan values, but it is another to say she shouldn't cuss because of her gender. Are you saying that Veronica shouldn't cuss because it distorts your perception of her?

So what if she lets loose a bit. I'd be on board if she called out "Fucking Bastards!", but that didn't happen. I realize people keep trying to protect the children from hearing language that they already hear from friends, school mates, etc. What she said is fine within the context of the discussion. Please confine your overly protective values to ruining your own kids.

Although I agree, that isn't the context of why V said it. She very much expressed herself with 1 word. It was not what most people do when using cursing in every language, which IMO is to fill the air with their own voice.

As for whether or not they should, it's their show. They will make it the way they want. If they don't want iTunes to label them as explicit, then they won't curse.

comhcinc

itunes does the labeling? i thought you chose that on your own. what are they the fcc?

If I remember right from my defunct podcast, I tunes lets you label them yourself, but if they get complaints they ask you to change it, and if you don't they change it.

Well its her gender that will beat you over the head with a nun-stick if you say them (an allusion to the penguin in "The Blues Brothers").

I do not begrudge someone, if on a rare occasion they do bleat an expletive. Cursing certainly conveys disappointment or disgust, but nothing else. Real conversation requires explaining the who, what, where, why, and how. Listening to the drone of someone cursing repeatedly turns me off and insults me that someone does not care enough to use even a minimum amount of intelligent conversation . I prefer a bit more enlightenment and variety. It gives you more to talk about.

FAIL! Learn to read.

This whole thread is a MASSIVE FAIL.

All this over the word "bastards?" Think of the children!

Word on the street, though, is that an angel gets her wings if the word "bastards" is uttered.

So, I expect copious iterations of such utterances by the loquacious ms. b.

I don't know if this story is literally true, but I do know that folks in Arabic do not shorten things, and they love words and stories. Think Tales of a Thousand and One Arabian Nights (which may actually be Persian).

In the US, you would call someone a son of a bitch. This is considered crude if the person is not a dog. If they are male dogs, its fine.

The classic middle eastern version goes more like:

Dear sir, I hope that when you get home tonight from your hard day of work and step out of your pickup truck that you sainted and blessed mother comes running quickly out from under the front porch of your family homestead and while moving quickly, she bites you on the ankles.

I've been watching revision3 shows for a little while now and noticed that Tekzilla is one of the shows with the least amount of cussing, if any at all. I don't know what some of you are talking about. I happen to love their quirky banter.

I haven't gotten involved with the forums for this very reason. I was afraid that my "colorful" use of language that I have become accustomed to whilst trolling on more nefarious boards would get my --behind-- banned. While I can respect that some people think communication between folks should be tidy and clean in order to have an intelligent conversation, I believe that thoughts rather than specific words being used actually convey the ideas. In either case censorship is retarded; this after all, is the internets.

I'm going to lurk moar to get a better feel for the place. But so far, it seems like some here are way too uptight/butthurt.

Like my daddy likes to say... 'Sounds like a personal problem.' Then, he goes back to reading the paper and watching the weather channel... in his ball huggers.... always with the ball huggers... You want to look away, but you can't... you want to cry out, 'No! This will not stand! For the love of all that is semi-right in this world, take your hand out of your jewel pouch anon!' But, you can't... for the spinning vortex of forces unknown and indefensible come to you on the day of reaping... so they do... so they will... always.

Wha... ah.... back to my point, as now the childhood fits of night-terror trauma have finally abated.... at least, for a little while, yet.

I'm sick and tired of catching the stink of the illogical faulty decorum police. I would just like to preface this by saying I understand you were just saying this as a warning about getting certain labels affixed to the show for Itunes...

You know what? Screw Itunes. This isn't regular TV anyway, this is suppose to be better than TV... a better alternative. Why must these puritanical ghosts from the rust and dust of the past still haunt us to this day? I say, begone from this place and never come back, oh unwanted visions of a past I no longer wish to be chained to!

In closing, I would just like to add....
