Heres the setup ...
HP Laptop /w Docking Station connected to 19" Viewsonice LCD via DVI and a
[new] Macbook that I want to use the same keyboard (USB), a decent mouse (USB wireless Logitech MXLaser) and connect to same monitor via DVI.
I've used KVM boxes before (Belkin Omniport for a server room), but want a small unit for my office.
Anyone got a (cheap) KVM recommendation for DVI monitor switching?
Worst case scenario is that I get a keyboard/mouse switch, and plug the VGA input on the monitor to one machine, and the DVI to the other, and when I switch I switch the K/M and hit a button on the monitor as well ... but thats a bit klunky.

I like this brand and its worked well for me. I have the 4port ps2/vga version. I have had this unit for 4 years with a viewsonic 22 inch wide. At first I didn't want to use vga, but for the price I paid and it leaves my dvi out for my tv so oh well. I also game a little with it and never had issues. But the nice thing is the hotkeys which I only have to hit scroll lock twice and number 1 to 4 to goto that computer!

Sometimes the keyboard stops working for like 20 sec. I just hit esc a few times and it comes back. I also seen it act like it was fried after a bad power surge and I left it unpluged for a few hours and then it works fine again. But its only done that twice in 4 years.
Good luck :)

Found it at my local TigerDirect (they have retail outlets - makes a return much much easier). Except for the fact that the MB doesn't have a scroll lock key (so no keyboard swapping from Mac to PC, but PC to Mac OK) it seems to work well.
I was hoping for DVI, but ended up VGA. Video quality is fine ... and I can always plug DVI in later to either PC or Mac if absolutely needed.

I found this at my local Staples. It was interesting to see the two salesmen bicker with each other over its limitations. One was saying it could handle a 1920x1200 24" the other said it can only do 1280x1024. I didn't end up getting it but it may help you or someone else.
