Any idea's for beginning projoects on a breadboard

I just watched an old epersoid of systm about making a usb charger on a breadboards and i am wanting to try it.

anyone have any suggestions on starting projects? im in need of a hobby and thought id give it a go.

also wile i was Googleing i found something called a pic microcontroler. this any good?

just do a web search and you will find a million sites.

ATMEL also makes some fine microcontrollers at a fraction of the costs of the pics. I got a pic training kit for xmas one year and it is awesome. I spend most of my time with the atmels.

How beginning? You can get pretty simple. How about a counter?
