hey everyone, just wondering what some of the other good sites out there have a good comic book community like iF and the forums.
What are the best sites and why?

There are other sites????

Honestly, this is the first Comic forum that I've seen like this anywhere online.
As for the same vibe, but not just comic related, I recommend the KwokTalk forums over in the www.thecomicforums.com site. He runs a great pop culture podcast. A large majority of the posters here post over there quite a bit.

i just drop by bus stops and if someone's waiting for the bus I ask them what they thought about the latest issue of Justice Society.
doctor's offices are great too because they have long waiting times.
seriously though I just talk here or at the Bendis boards at jinxworld.

Let me second the KwokTalk forums suggestion. Louis runs a great little pop culture community that's very iFanbase friendly. Stop by and say hello.
Also: KB is a big stealer because he knew I was going to say the KwokTalk forums and he always steals my lines before I get the chance to say them. Hmrphfs.

Actually I mentioned Kwok's place because I feel guilty for not hopping over there as much as I want to. Stupid Work Site Filter!

For me, the answer is increasingly "nowhere"; this and Kwoktalk are just about the only places I don't find actively depressing. Ever check out those Newsarama forums? Hide the cutlery!

When we talk comics at the Bendis Board it's usually well worth the time, but we're more a social club than anything these days.

Sweet. I might have to use that tagline. Come visit our forums: Not actively depressing since 2007!
Aside from a detour to the TRS forums here and there, it's pretty much here and the comic forums that I feel comfortable posting. It's pretty neat that even though the cast of active posters has been ever changing here, pretty much a nice crowd is attracted to the iFanboards.

OMG I cant believe how negitive people can get on there. The response creators get when posting on there is appalling.
For discussion forums this is the only place I frequent. Although for news I will go to other sites.

I used to go to another, smaller place... But then I realized they're haters who don't like good comics (not one of them liked the last Whedon/Cassaday issue of Astonishing X-Men) so I left...
And then they started doing a weekly two and a half hour audio podcast... Really? Do we need that? An hour (for most things) is enough sometimes...

Personally I would love for the ifanboys to go 2 1/2 hours. Although they give us more recommendations now than my wallet can handle so maybe its not a good idea.

Well the difference is these guys were awful... I do love it when they go on and on, but I do think that if they did it too much we'd get a little tired of them... These guys just skipped the quality and went straight for awfully boring quantity...

Lately its just been here and the TRS forums that I've participated. I used to participate and follow Newsarama's discussions but I haven't in a long while. The few times I participated in the discussions I either got whipped into some argument or was just angered by others comments.

I curse the name of anyone who denies the greatness of Whedon/Cassaday's Astonishing.
Curse them to hell.

I'm curious, who is this long boring podcast you speak of?
It's so mysterious...
Maybe there're clues in Gunga's previous posts

I've only recently started posting on here and Ifanboy but I generally go to my lcs and talk with the guys there. Amazingly enough, especially where I live, they have a discussion group that picks a topic each week.

I would be interested in that if they did it locally. Sounds like you have a forward thinking LCS, congrats.

It's nice. There's so much that I need to catch up on since my hiatus from reading comics and the people in the discussion group are very cool and understand that I don't know everything about comics. I'm very glad I have a store that doesn't treat me like the legendary Ithaca Store Owner.

I wasn't joking when I said "There are other sites?" at the beginning of this thread. iFanboy is the only place I've ever found that has people discussing comics intelligently and civilly. There aren't a bunch of people on here bashing each other if they disagree. For the most part, people on this board can have a difference of opinion and actually try to bring up real points, not just yell and scream and call each other names.
Perfect example of this: There is a thread around here somebody about the ending of The Killing Joke. one person (I don't remember who it is and it's been way too long of a day to go find it. sorry. lol) didn't like the ending. I agreed with them. Conor expressed his opinion that the ending of The Killing Joke was terrific. There were a few posts back and forth with everybody stating their case......and Conor changed my mind. A perfectly civilized debate on the internet.
And THAT is why iFanboy is the best.

This is a good corner of the internets to hang out in. I've found that most of the podcast forums are pretty decent. Decent when you compare them to all the other places that we know about but will remain unnamed.
Every forum that sticks around seems to grow into a monster of some sort. It's been nice to see this forum stay very friendly as the guys have become more and more popular. I think it's a credit to their attitude about comics and their approach to fun yet intelligent conversation.

I have to say after an extensive search of the internets for the best discussion forums and community for comics. I can declare iFanboy my winner.

I'm not AFRAID of the internet. I just don't see the point of having flame wars with what is ultimately a screen name on my computer monitor. There are better ways to spend my time than having heated arguments with people I'm never going to meet. I get nothing out of that. But having an actual well reasoned debate with somebody who shares my interest, or just reading other people's viewpoints on something I love is a different story.

John, I was really just baiting Dave Accampo. Or as he is known in the multiverse, The Old One.
This forum is one of the biggest internet circle jerks around. You will find many "friendly" (but stay away from Dave) comic book geeks here. ;)

I go to the comic forums at geekscape.net and barbelith.com. They are more social-focused than comic books, but geekscape can be a lot of fun and Barbelith is pretty hardcore analytical.
