Neil Gaiman and The Caped Crusader

Well..I know that I am probably behind the times a little bit, but I just found out that Neil will be doing a two issue series with Andy Kubert titled "Whatever happened to the Caped Crsuader" Newstory (http://www.comicmix.com/news/2008/07/28/sdcc-neil-gaiman-writing-batman/)

I just wanted to start some discussion about how people feel about this and talk about their favorite Batman writers (besides Alan Moore, given The Killing Joke)

I personally am ecstatic and cant wait. :D

I think this could potentially be a great story.

The only comic of Gaiman's I have read is the Eternals Limited series from a few years ago. I really enjoyed it, but it was not anything earth shattering.

However, I am currently reading his prose book American Gods and if the creative force that wrote this awesome book shows up for what could be the last 'Bruce as Batman' story I will be very happy.

You'll find out he's actually the guardian over earth and while it may have seemed like he doesn't have super powers, he's the most powerful being on earth...and then Armageddon will begin.

I think i heard this, too. Originally vertigo was just the place for the kind of darkish, occultish DC characters, and things that happened in DC mainstream were considered when doing Vertigo stories. But now, i think it's kind of broken off into a separate thing entirely.

I think he meant that for new Vertigo series, since Preacher Vertigo's been putting out stuff with no DCU connection. Swamp Thing, Hellblazer and Sandman still connected in many ways to the DCU even if its been a while since they've touched back on them. Hell just cause Gotham Central never talked about Tamaran doesn't mean they didn't occupy the same universe.

And...it's Batman, so I'd be buying it regardless.

I wasn't particularly fond of Eternals or 1602, but because it's a companion piece to "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" I'll have to check it out.
